Liv Warfield sings her Prince song on America's Got Talent Liv Warfield sang "Wow" (titled as "The Unexpected") on her first appearance on the live shows (the quarter finals) of America's Got Talent.
Do I like her version more than Prince's? Not saying I don't!
And I found this note from an interview with her, "Prince is the executive producer of her latest album, The Unexpected. He wrote the title track for her, so she could be the next big thing."
Princevault notes:
According to an interview Liv Warfield gave to Oregon Live, Prince wrote the song for Warfield after she had decided on the album’s title; she did not have a title track for the album until that point. The lyrics of the song point to the track’s two titles, stating "u can call it the unexpected or u can call it... wow!" Although Liv Warfield’s version could be considered a cover version (since it does not include Prince as a musician), it was released before Prince’s own.

I never knew that. Tres interesting.

I was lucky to buy her The unexpected album in 2014 at North Sea Jazz Festival when she played there for a small crowd of Prince fans who were hoping Prince would show up. Never saw the album in the stores after that and then in 2015 a Japanese release with extra tracks I thnk and different artwork.

Like i said in that other thread (rhyme!)
Cover, rerecording, give-away, whatever...
3rd Eye Girl version of "Wow" is a banger! "Whatever skin we're in
we all need 2 b friends" |

I compiled PE and AOA songs, plus a couple of then-internet-only tunes, into Plectrum Age, a stronger playlist (for me).
"Wow" made the playlist.
- Wow
- Rock and Roll Love Affair
- Marz
- Screwdriver (Intro'd Edit) *
- Way Back Home (The Affirmation Blend) *
- Fixurlifeup
- Clouds (Speechless Mix) *
- Funknroll
- Breakdown
- Anotherlove
- This Could Be Us
- Same Page Different Book
- Time
- Plectrumelectrum
* These are mixes created by me.
What's noticeable about this song after Liv performed it is how it's versatile. Two totally different styles (and titles) and each stand on its own. It's not his best song, but it has a place in history. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

Nope!
Now you did a fan-edit.
Also, you totally ignored "Plectrun Electrum"
Then, you wiped "Art Official Age" (the real last PRINCE album) from your memory.
i'm doing a left'n'right head shake inbetween every keystroke of this response... "Whatever skin we're in
we all need 2 b friends" |
