RIP Angela Bofill

It was announced on Angela's official facebook page that she passed away yesterday. What an incredible singer. One of the most underrated. She will be missed.

I was hoping that this was another one of those dumb Internet hoaxes.

Incredible singer with so many great songs and albums.

Rest in peace.

Love that song! I can listen to her "Angel of the Night" CD without skipping any songs. It is a perfect album. "Too Tough" had some superb ballads.

I believe she was noted on CBS Sunday Morning's "Passage: In memoriam" today.

One of my favorite albums by her is 'Something About You',released in 1981.This was her third album and her first album on Arista Records.Produced by Narada Michael Walden,it's a solid album filled with great tunes. The excellent title track and "Holding Out For Love" were the singles. There's also a superb remake of the Stylistic's "Stop,Look,Listen (To Your Heart)'.Highly recommended.

RIP Angela...

I began my Angela Bofill listening odyssey in
2008....while crate digging at a local used vinyl record shop

I ended up buying her first seven albums
Angie
Angel of the night
Something about you
Too Tough
Teaser
Let me be the one
Tell me Tomorrow...

Very unique voice....

The only thing I was familiar with up to that point
Was "I Try"....
And a cd that my mother's boyfriend had called
"Intuition"..

I don't think I even heard the Intuition album...
But her name always stuck with me..

I used to get her name and Patrice Rushen mixed up
for some reason

But I do remember 'I try" coming on the radio in the car...
and my dad singing along to it..lol...

Those first two albums on Dave's Grusin's GRP label
Was the precursor to what was to come on his label..

Acts like Tom Browne,Bernard Wright..Bobby Broom..Don Blackman

I want to say her..and her friend flute player"Dave Valentin" were the first signed to GRP...but I could be wrong..

They were more of the Jazzpop vein...
"Baby I need your love"...and the "only thing I wish for."
are my favorites from those two..

When she went directly to Arista...and Narada Michael Walden started producing her....
He had the magic touch with female vocalists during the 80s
Magic touch period...

He crafted pop..grooves.soulful ballads..
He unlocked a formula..

The three albums he produced should have been bigger...

Clive saw what he could do and so producing Whitney and Aretha paid dividends for his label...throw in Kenny G too...

Narada helped keep the lights on at Arista back in
the day along with Ray Parker Jr ...and Kashif..
writing hit songs and hit albums

Tropical Love...
Only Love
Time to say goodbye
accept me(I'm not a girl anymore.).
Rainbow inside my heart..
I can see it in your eyes
You're a special part of me..duet with Johnny Mathis
Is this a dream.
Still a thrill..
Too tough (obviously)
Teaser..
Gotta make it up to you...

are some of my favorites off
those three Narada album collaborations

Then we find her working with The System on
Let me know...

Love me today..
Let me be the one..
Getting into loving you .
Are amongst my favorites on there

If you love The System... you'll definitely love
That album..

And tell me tomorrow finds her working with
George Duke...
Another jazz fusion.. turned R&B producer .
.
Good album like the rest of his productions of
the day with Jeffrey Osborne...Deniece Williams..
Sister Sledge

Thank you Angela ..
Your music is a joy to listen to...

You will be forever missed...
