David is great and is an icon with so many worthy interviews under his belt.

i would dare to say that he's better than Howard Stern as he's not as intrusive.

But, goddammit, he never got to the point of Miley ripping off Bruno Mars.

Then, later in the episode, she blatently rips off Talking Heads with "re-writing" "Psycho Killer" in a performance complete with narration of where exactly she changed the song to suit her needs.

Just cuz she's the "godchild" of Dolly doesn't give her all-mighty rights to anything.

Also, her mother is someone she looks up to, while her father is a wayside???

Letterman isn't here to talk about that sort of stuff; ripping off songs or whatever.

And frankly, any melody can be found in probably 50 other songs. We just don't remember or know those songs. So "ripping off" becomes highly subjective.

How about,

"hey Miley, why did you give no writing credits to Bruno Mars for basing your Grammy winning hit "Flowers" on "When I Was Your Man"?

The story goes, her ex, Liam Hemsworth, tried a weak attempt at apologizing to Miley using the mentioned song by Bruno, then she fucked him up by releasing her rendition of that tune on his following birthday.

Letterman doesn't care about that. Why would he ask her a question like that? He's not a musician, it's not in his wheelhouse.

Whatever it is, my point is that you're arguing in the wrong arena for it. It'd be more inherent if someone in the business were doing the interview. They'd have the knowledge, experience, history to address it. Letterman isn't going to broach that because it's just not this thing.

Frankly, "Flowers" sounds like any other song on the radio right now. Doja Cat has a song with the same beat and feel. It's sorta like how every other Darkchild song is the same.

I feel both are pretty overrated as interviewers. Like, that was never even their strong point on any level, it's all about the wacky bits.

My dad worshipped Letterman. He'd record his shows and show choice bits to me when I came over once a week after school.

I was always like "eh,erm, eh, it's OKAY." and he'd try to elaborate on how cutting edge this shit was in the 80s, appointment television, etc.

Dude passed away before YouTube had all the old classic bits like his Christmas special, the velcro suit, throwing shit from the roof, Chris Elliott the man from beneath the seats, etc. Legendary material, now I get why a generation speaks of Letterman with such reverence.

Always loved Stern growing up, but his radio show has been abominable since like 2009. That never-ending interview format he does is worse than Joe "Ambien" Rogan's snoozefests.

intrusive, like, someone stands up and Stern immediately shouts "WHAT ARE YOU DOING???"

whereas, Letterman would first observe and then crack a witty joke.
