That's kinda what I thought. It's a fucking Vanity 6 song that should've been a song in 1981/2, but wasn't. It reeks of The Time/Vanity 6 aesthetic.

I don't know what that is. I mean, I know what it is now because I googled it but I wasn't familiar with it prior to you bringing it to my attention. I've seen the Rave To The Year 2000 DVD. But that's the only one I've seen in full.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I had never heard of her before. Or at least, that's what I thought. Based on how much I like this new song I went back to check out her older stuff and I absolutely love that Everybody Got Their Something album. But there's a song on there that I know I've heard before. The song "Like A Feather". I've heard it somewhere and it's annoying me now that I can't remember where I heard it lol

Great song!

Indeed, Vanity 6-ish, and sounds like a big promise for her new album.

(I always had a weak spot for her 2017 'Nothing Compares 2 U' version.)

2024 will be a 'funk' year.

Funk is back!

Many artists are flirting with the funk this year, keep an eye on it.

And Prince will be all over the second part of this year, I'm sure. smile

Also Everybody Got Their Somethin' is the debut of Mark Ronson (Nikka appears on Ronson's first solo album Here Comes The Fuzz with Jack White and rapper Freeway on the title track)

I don't remember that ad but I might have seen it and just forgot about it? And the music is the only thing I remember? That could be likely.

I was watching the tube last night and the new Target campaign uses Everybody Got Their Somethin'. It doesn't sound like Nikka but it was a short clip so maybe it is her.

Agreed, I was immediatelly thinking Iresistible Bitch, you can almost replace herlyrics with it. Great song, pure Prince.

I bought a altenate version of Cantneverdidnothin' some years ago.
It was sealed in a jweel case without the front cover and with a different back cover with different times for some tracks. the CD says 'Advance' on the front. I've never seen it in the shops is it rare?
the track with Prince on it is a bit longer
