For Rhondab, Jthad and the rest of them who rolled their eyes on me,,TAKE THIS:

J. LO – SHE’S A MANIAC? Paramount doesn’t appreciate Lopez’s tribute to “Flashdance.”

Jennifer Lopez
(May. 8, 2003) *Paramount Pictures isn’t very happy about the Jennifer Lopez’s video for “I’m Glad.” The movie house is calling the video a rip-off of its 1983 hit film “Flashdance.”
The clip features a ripped sweatshirt wearing Lopez doing the exact moves from the film. Lopez’s camp says the video is more of a tribute, the singer/dancer considers “Flashdance” one of her favorite movies.

Still, Paramount has sent Sony (Jen’s parent label) a legal notice claiming that the music company violated the film’s copyright when Lopez lifted the look and dance sequences.

The Lopez’s camp doesn’t expect a big tiff over the matter, and Paramount says it’s a pretty simple case, too. The movie company considers it just a clip-licensing agreement that comes along with a little fee. The two entertainment companies don’t expect to go to court over the matter.

J.Lo is a big star, this type of beef happens like everyday, with so many other celebs, and the 'not so famous'...they're just making a big deal of it just because it's J.Lo...had it been anyone else, no one would hear about this kind of stuff, and the video still might go to #1, no matter what anyone says...

Ya know whats funny? Seeing Macy Gray, TTD, Lenny Kravits, Tracie Chapman get no love nor respect from BET but on the other hand you see Slim, J.Low and ppl who have nothing 2 do with black music.

Ain't that a bitch? rolleyes

If you're referring to hip-hop soley as 'Black music' that's a big time nono...no no no!.

Hip hop is very hybrid, a contribution of Hispanics and Black people from the get go...and then some other 'groups' of people, whoever related, or partook in the origins of the movement at the time, but it is very richly embedded with Hispanics and Black people from the inner-city communities.

Today, it's more 'multi-cultural',(I'm speaking of the 'take-over' as well) more than just 'Black', so to say it's 'Black' music, when some 'Latin freestyle', 'Carribean', and even 'Middle Eastern' rhythms have influenced the music, as it's becoming more prevalent in the music today, is just not correct.

Now the term 'Black’, that can have multiple definitions as viewed by some, it can even be controversial to a certain extent. So BET…that can be another issue as well, but it's how one defines, views, or sees the 'term', if you, or they, do.

Don't put words on my mouth, I didn't mean what you said! but then again I'm sorry 2 say it, cuz its ignorant 2 label things in the 1st place,,,blame it 2 my temper!

What I ment is BET(Black Entertaiment TV) is originaly a channel 2 support black artists,,,I could careless if they're licking J.Low/Limp Bizkit/Slim/Justin/Christina's booty but SUPPORT yo artists 1st(the ones that I mentioned earlier) last time I checked, those mofos are black too and BET should do what she gotta 2 support them NOT the opposite.

Thats what I ment!

I'm sayin, it's the same attitude as most lame hip hop hits (from Poof Doody) where you take a solid gold hit that's already established, and then add your own words over it, SOMETIMES, and then call it yours. Same thing here. LAME. LAME. SHAME. LAME.

And yeah, the song is pure nothing. not even crap. Just nothing.

It must be really good what they're doing, since hip-hop is so very well sought after...

And I think one of the reasons this particular genre of hip hop (take an old number 1 song and just rap over it) is so popular is because it's ALREADY popular. Would Poof Doody have been ANYWHERE as popular if he'd rapped over original music, instead of over the POLICE, LED ZEPPELIN, and ALL the others?

I'm not saying it's that way with ALL hip hop. I just really do not like that type of hip hop... it's lazy. Hell, I could have a hit if I just took a number one song, kept the chorus and made up new words.

I think it's a stylistic thing, not a color thing. Lenny doesn't play R&B (not the video songs, most of the time) ditto with Tracy C, TTD. Macy, that's something different.

Whereas, Slime Shoddy and Jello are putting out hip hop songs. Just because they're black, they're not going to get play on black radio/black video... Hendrix, for example. You'll NEVER see him on BET, unless it's black history month.

Yes, it's a shame it doesn't always work in the opposite direction - slime DOES get play on MTV, but MTV has swan-dived into hip hop. They chase the money.

Ahah...no words in people's mouth...no no no!

What you 'meant' sounds contradictory, like another statement that was made.

The most important thing is that they support 'REAL' artists, I could care less about the rest.
