Record Store Day 2024 - David Bowie release

https://www.davidbowie.co...r-rsd-2024

This got me thinking if the estate/Warners/Sony may ever consider the release of an early configuration of a Prince album, e.g. Dream Factory or Crystal Ball
There may or may not be something coming!

But haven't all the songs from CB and DF been released at this point? I'm not sure the point of releasing those songs in yet another configuration. Even the same can be done for Diamonds and Pearls at this point.

Frankly, they should continue with the Originals timeline. Just hand pick songs he gave to other artists, put 12-14 on a disk. That would be a great RSD release, and a reboot to a potential series of disks. We're not talking 10 or 15 disks in total, but there is another good 2 or 3 disks worth of stuff to put out.

Quite frankly, his whole version of The Family, including "Feline" and "Miss Understood" is what should be near the top of a RSD release. OR release it without the latter two extra tracks, but put those on a configuration later sold on the online store.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

About half of the David Bowie fans are complaining about this release (other half seem fine with it), so I imagine Prince fans would be similarly split with DF, CB or even a Camille type release.

Any of the protege albums could be released as you say, and I agree a The Family one would be great with Prince versions, and why not include the extra tracks.

Any other Prince released albums worth an early configuration release? Would have to be different enough to the released one to warrant it? Perhaps this 1 May 1985 configuration of Parade (taken from https://princevault.com/i...um:_Parade )

Wendy’s Parade
New Position
I Wonder U
Under The Cherry Moon
Others Here With Us
Life Can Be So Nice
Velvet Kitty Cat
Sometimes It Snows In April
Kiss
Old Friends 4 Sale
All My Dreams
There may or may not be something coming!

'Camille' would be perfect right now.

Honestly, I would prefer a Dream Factory Record Store Day release over anything else if it's the June 86 configuration with "In A Large Room With No Light" and "Power Fantastic"--two of my top five Prince songs on one album, wow. I don't believe the complete studio version of the latter has ever been released on vinyl.

THAT would be an LP I would buy immediately - love Others here with us and the Old Friends 4 Sale songs

the alt version of parade always looks like itd be great to have but alt versions of albums id only be interested in if they were radically different. at this point id rather just hear unreleased material. originals was a mess of an album, so im only interested in that continuing if they do it with some order to it. camille is a bit different as that album was never released at all (even if the songs mostly were) but made it to the test pressing stage so that would be cool.

Prince was known for his prolific output and extensive vault of unreleased music, including alternate versions and configurations of albums that never saw the light of day in their original forms. Fans have long speculated about the existence of these unreleased albums and have eagerly awaited the opportunity to hear them.
