Best P-funk songs outside Parliament/Funkadelic bubble? What are your favourite P-Funk (inspired) songs from artist outside the Parliament/Funkadelic bands? I start with these: We came to funk ya (Fred Wesley et al) Exodus - NPG Appreciate - Plantlife (The Return of Jack Splash) Funkentown - Slave Get down

I feel like when people group them together they usually mean "Flash Light" era dancefloor Parliament and for whatever reason are wholly ignoring early Funkadelic which was more of a prog avant-metal vibe. [Edited 3/7/24 10:21am]

I meant outside the songs from these groups and the associated artists. But yes, when I think of P-Funk it is more the funky Parliament songsā¦

This is a song from the game Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. I never thought I'd be hearing a P-Funk masterpiece in a Japanese videogame but give it a listen. I promise you won't regret it https://m.youtube.com/wat...3BCzkJcj_w

On another note... The revival of P-funk in the 90s resulted in a number of mostly European "neo-P-funk" bands, whose songs and sound where directly inspired by the classic sound. Some of these bands were: Malka Family, Seven Eleven, Dodge and Gotcha. In a sense, even Digital Underground and Slapback can be considered an exponent of this revival movement as well (although clearly not from Europe). Check out their work to hear some P-inspired funk...

It's clearly P-Funk inspired. I was playing the game and all of a sudden that music starts playing as a character is introduced. I just put the controller down so I could just stand there listening to it
