How Many Copies Do Reissue Vinyls Sell?

Just curious about how many copies a 'decent' selling reissue vinyl sells.

For example: Control or Rhythm Nation, Like A Prayer, CrazySexyCool, Relish by Joan Osborne.. things like that.. albums that did well in their time but have been reissued.

Just wondering how much the artists are actually benefitting by these reissues.

THANKS for your help

I mean, who really has those numbers, though?

It's often younger folks - millennials or Gen Z - who could be buying those, seeing the initial novelty of a vinyl record, but later realizing how good it really is.

I don't need a reissue, unless it's been remastered or I just never owned it on vinyl to begin with. I bought Dirty Mind on vinyl because it was remastered. I bought some Janet albums on vinyl a few years ago because I'd never owned anything past Control on vinyl until All For You. I picked up RN1814, janet., and The Velvet Rope.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Did you know that the "1814" subtitle of Janet Jackson's 'Rhythm Nation' CD was simply that "r" and "n" are the 18th and 14th letters of the english alphabet, respectively?

Well, that's partly true but it's coincidental. The real reason for it was more obvious.

The real reason for my post should also be obvious?

The funny thing is that no one knows any real numbers anymore. Especially when you talk about streaming and who gets what, if a whole song is played, blah blah blah. Rick Beato did a breakdown of this recenllty and he had label people who didn't even know WHO gets what, what the payout is, the %breakdowns on platforms. In one case I heard that there was 400 million in unclaimed revenue, and instead of figuring it out IT IS DIVIDED among the top streaming artists which is BS! As far as vinyl reissues depends, if there is a limited number printed and its gone, then pretty much its sold, as many may or may not know, especially for RSD vinyls, the stores are stuck with the product, sell or no sell, its theirs. A few years back I heard about Best Buy when they still carried music physically got stuck with thousands and thousands of ADELE records (latest release) cause no one wanted a vinyl of her.

That explains why they got out of the market, probably the back room of all Best Buys were stockpiled with all these new artists that get vinyl pressings.
