I liked it. It is a Bob and Rita are soulmates movie than a documentary about his life but I've seen that already. I enjoyed the music and how it looked.

That movie is eventually a flop, considering its budget.

Yes.
There s a marketing budget that has to be added to the production budget.
That s why a movie has to triple at least his budget in theaters, in order for it to make money.

Even if that movie crossed the 210/250 millions needed, you don't spend 100 millions dollars + just to make your money back and don't earn one dollar.

You do a movie for money.

It will be fun to see the MJ biopic (155 M $ production budget already announced, so it could be more) flop when released next year.

I think on the strength of fans alone the MJ bio will do just fine.

Not sure, back in 2009, in the wake of MJ death, the This It It movie only did 260 millions Worldwide.

I don't think anyone expected that to do that well because most fans I heard back then (including me) saw it as a cheap cash grab and a lot of fans didn't care to see it in theatres.
I did see it in theatres because I'm a fan and want to support him but alot of fans didn't.
This bio has a lot of fans looking out for it and are anticipating it so It hink it will do better than This is it.
We'll see, I just don;t hope it will be like that Queen movie with made up timelines and what not.

If fans won't go see a movie with the real MJ, I don't understand the logic in why they would go seeing a movie with MJ played by an actor.

The MJ fans I knew back then don't give a shit anymore.

Since it is supported by the MJ estate, you can be sure it will be an historical mess, presented in the worst possible way, as with everything they released so far.

The only hope I have for this biopic, is that it highlights some songs unknown to the common audience, such as Speechless, Whatever Happens...That they make something emotionnal with that. Such as with Love Of My Life in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Bohemian Rhapsody was a success that took everyone by surprise
I don't know how, because the movie is terrible.
Then Hollywood tried to repeat its success 850 M$), but every biopic released hadn't made that much money :
Rocketman about Elton John : 195 M $
Elvis : 290 M$
I Wanna Dance With Somebody : 59 M $ on a 45 M $ budget.
One Love : 170 M$

I don't see that MJ biopic becoming the new Dune 2, because it will need to do in the range of 450/500 million to be just profitable.
