Average White Band appreciation

They're one of my favorite 70s funk bands and they're celebrating their 50th Anniversary with a massive,15-disc box set to be released next month.Yes,I already preordered it smile Any other fans? What are your favorite songs, albums by this band?

also for their 50th Anniversary, the album 'AWB' will be available as

a 1-LP half speed master edition. It has been expertly cut using transfers of the original audio tapes using precision half-speed mastering and is pressed on heavyweight 180g vinyl with a 4-page insert.

Love these guys. Saw them in a very small venue a few years ago and they really killed it.

Age is just a number in funk. In music in general, I guess... the Stones are 80 shocked

...And yes, I've seen them live a few times over the last 20 years and they never disappoint. With that said, my fav by them is the Person To Person Live album- great live album and I was just rocking (and singing along to) "If I Ever Loose This Heaven" from that album...

Oh yeah, that is an incredible live album.

If you wanna see them in their prime, check out this 'Live At Montreux' performance from 1977.It's available on DVD.

In 1979,when almost everyone else was doing disco,AWB stuck to their classic sound for the most part. They released the album Fret No More featuring this wonderful single,"Atlantic Avenue".

Always got a kick out of those white boys from Scotland laying down that deep, thick funk!

I regularly return to this awesome clip:

Soul Searching is my favorite AWB album. The entire Side One is absolutely fantastic.

Cut The Cake is another great album. The album with Ben E. King is so underrated.

like the Ohio Players, the Average White Band had some interesting album covers lol their 1978 album 'Warmer Communications' features a naked woman taking a shower and,as on previous AWB album covers, her ass is basically the "W" in their name.

Btw,this album is sensational. The first single "Your Love Is A Miracle" is an intoxicating slab of midtempo funk that just sizzles. There are no disco grooves here...the guys stay focused on their tried-and-true funk and the results are fantastic.

Box set comes out next week smile interestingly, there is an earlier box set that came out in 2014.It actually has more rarities and goodies than the new box.If you're a completist/diehard like me,you'll track down a copy and just have both, lol
