Word...and Mr. Cooke was the first major "black" artist to start his own independent record label...and the "powers that be" murdered him because of it...an act of open oppression and systematic racism that would be repeated well into the future...including 2021.

You have read my mind. I would be willing to bet a body part he was murdered. Nobody with any real understanding of the man thinks the official report is true. I celebrate the man and the artist as a true African American Original. I love Sam Cooke!

The Album "Night Beat" should be mandatory listening for anyone with a interest in R&B or Soul. If you haven't heard it your opinion is invalid on those genres.

I don't even remember the Spinner's version but I'm sure it's Sam. Like Marvin, if he sang it, his version is the best.
