Biz Markie Documentaty
Checked it out this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. It brought back a lot of memories of Biz from seeing him in concert to coming to DJ'ing at my college in later years. A few observations: * 1.) the connection between Biz and Big Daddy Kane AND Biz and Rakim was mindblowing but not a total surprise. * 2.) really appreciated seeing faces that I hadn't seen in 30 years like Prime Minister Pete Nice, Scoob and Scrap Lover, and Craig G. * 3.) really appreciated the stories and anecdotes, but I need #1 a Juice Crew documentary and #2, though this was the most extensive "documentation" that I've seen yet, a documentary of the 80s Long Island hip hop scene. * Didn't grow up in NYC so my 1st exposure to Biz was "Vapors" on Yo MTV and then his verse on "Just Rhyming With Biz"- made me go purchase Goin Off to learn more. Lots of other interesting "reveals" in the documentary but I highly recommend it for anyone that appreciates 80s hip hop. | |

A great documentary- I too was completely unaware of the link with Rakim (G.O.A.T.) - what a revelation. Loved Biz and the whole Juice Crew period. No internet then, so unaware of the falling out with Marley. Loved Master Ace’s rap to the Biz puppet. Whole doc was respectful but with that touch of humour that Biz always had. Best beatboxer of all time! Everybody is special. Everybody. Everybody is a hero, a lover, a fool, a villain. Everybody. Everybody has their story to tell. |

What a terrific documentary, and I, too, had no idea about the connection to Rakim (the Greatest of All Time). Really enjoyed Biz and the rest of the Juice Crew. No internet back then meant I missed out on hearing about your battle with Marley. I thought Master Ace's rap to the Biz puppet was awesome. The entire document was respectful, yet it also had that signature sense of humor that Biz possessed. The ultimate beatboxer! | |

I still haven't seen this documentary. I can't find it on my Canadian cable! I am assuming you are talking about the Biz rapping with Rakim when he went by Kid Wizard. I have heard a few tapes from them performing in high school. | |
