Taylor Swift!

She was here in KC for 2 nights, I couldn't believe the impact she had. Downtown KC lit buildings up in her honor, they changed street signs to her name, 1000's of beaded bracelets. Celebrating her for days!

Every stadium she went to was sold out, all kinds of celebrities and their kids attended.

The celebrities that joined her on stage.

I've never seen anything like it, where ever she went.

I don't see that with anybody else, including Bey.

You should keep looking. All sorts of folks are in the audience at the Beyonce concert. I've more recently seen Lizzo, Taraji P. Henson, and Madonna. I think both tours are pulling in a lot of celebs. And why wouldn't they?

They both have a strong fanbase, often overlapping. Whether it's those friendship bracelets, or whatever. It's crazy, but cool.

With celebs on stage, Taylor's done that a lot, but Beyonce hasn't. It's whatever. The folks she had on the Reputation Tour was pretty cool. I watched a good bit of those performances.

Taylor's tour sure got a lot of free press when that Ticketmaster glitch happened. So I can see the extra hype around it. But honestly, I've heard pretty much equal hype about both tours.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Beyonce's always been a starf*cker. Her and Jay-Z probably threaten to blackball these people from the industry if they don't attend her concerts and promote it to their social media followers.

They both iced The-Dream out for a couple years after one of his ex's spilled tea about them allegedly inviting third parties into their bedroom. He got significantly less "big name" artist work during this time and was relegated to shit like the Nicole Scherzinger solo album for a period. Now they've made up and he's everywhere again.

Keri Hilson's solo career definitely cashed when she committed the sin of having "beef" with the almighty Bey. Her solo stuff was better than Beyonce. Beyonce made sure none of her songwriters or labels would help Keri out after the beef.

Sean Paul had a duet hit with Beyonce that was supposed to be performed at the VMA awards that he claimed Jay-Z axed at the time, years later and he's backtracked trying to mea culpa his way back into their good graces.

They also stopped associating with Kanye when everybody else kinda did... but still, he did a literal album with him and had so many of his hits produced by him. Ruined Taylor's VMA moment in the name of Bey. Seemed like they were all BFFs for a loong timer. Gives starf*ckery vibes...

If it were free, I would pick Ms Swift, just out of curiosity.

They're PRICY. Of course, they're huge tours. Taylor's Reputation Tour was pretty big, as was The Formation Tour with its monolith and weird ass catwalk.

So free would be a determining factor. haha

lol

I took it more as a hypothetical but I've heard from random people that she puts on a great show. I'm still curious because I'm not a fan but if I was, money wouldn't be a factor if she came to my city.

While the Beyonce tour has been tremendously succuessful by any measure, Taylor's tour has been unprececedented. Never before has so many people tried to get tickets that it crasdhe Ticketmaster to the extent that she did. Not only that, it has been amazing that almost all her albums have been in and out of the top 20 throughout the tour, and at many times she has had 4 albums in the Top 10 (I think that is true yet again this week). Meanwhile, dozens of her songs old and new have charted in the top streaming songs chart. The re-emergence of so many of her older albums and songs is uniquely connected to the success of the tour. There is hardly anything of Beyonce that is currently selling or streaming, no renaissance of her old albums.

Special mention should be made of P!nks tour as well. It hasn't made the headlines here in the States as much as the other two due to for most of the Summer she has been selling out and breaking records in Europe. I saw her in Munich and she was great! Her tour has started in the US recently and she also is selling out stadiums consistently. She was the first woman every to headline a stadium show in Wisonsin and she broke the stadium attendance record there. She broke a stadium record in Minnesota the next stop. She also has gotten tremendous reviews as well.

It used to be an industry stereotype that women couldn't sellout stadiums and that only a few could consistently even sellout arenas. It is pretty amazing that three women are doing it at the same time!

Yeah did anybody predict P!nk's longevity? Total shocker. I still say she fell off after "Most Girls" but uh.. the public definitely disagrees with that take.

Absolutely. Her past two albums, including one released a few months ago, haven't yielded the big hits she had up till the pandemic, but they still debuted in the top 2 and got radio play. She set a record for most #1 singles on the Hot AC chart (which is basically pop radio without much rap) that was just broke by Taylor this week. Although she is one of the few pop artists that have had as many hits in the US during the 2000 - 2020 stretch, she is even bigger in Australia, Germany, and England. A couple of weeks she just sold the most tickets by anyone in Australia in only a few hours. So yes, she is alive and thriving!

Then you've not paid attention, yo! The girl is everywhere. She was just in Europe in June/July, then brought her Summer Carnival Tour to the states. She's toured pretty much every year or every other year, except during Covid.

I admit, I don't listen to her music as much as I used to, but I got mad respect for her voice, longevity, and endurance on these shows. I always loved that she was a no-bullshit kinda gal.

Look up the Summer Carnival Tour on YouTube.

Cool. Thanks for the information. I'll look it up. I used to like a bunch of her songs when I was in school. I just don't keep up with the modern pop world these days. I never thought it would happen to me. I always used to tease my dad for not knowing (or pretending he didn't know) who NSYNC or Britney Spears was. But now I fear that I'm slowly turning into my parents and it's a terrifying thought lol

Your must be missing an Oy from your Oy OY Oy razz . Since you have liked her in the past, I encourage you to go to one of her many Australian concerts planned in the next several months. Even people who are just lukewarm Pink fans are amazed by her concerts. By the way, a lot of her more recent material is good too. She played 4 or 5 songs from her recent album Trustfall on this tour and they all were well received.

no, but they used to play that Men at Work "Land Down Under" song in elementary school and have us sing along to the text, so it always made quite the impression on me.

I'd probably try it now, honestly. It's on my international most-wanted along with the Durian and Matcha Kit-Kat bars.

Is it similar to liverwurst? I used to work assisted living and always chickened-out on ordering the liverwurst.

Vegemite is a spread, a very salty spread. If you've ever seen the texture of potted meat, it's like that, but much more gelatinous. There's not much else I can compare it to, because it's that unique nasty.

I believe it's supposed to be similar to Marmite. But I wouldn't be able to say for sure because I've never tasted Marmite. I don't want to taste anything that's supposed to be similar to Vegemite.

Liverwurst is a spread, too. Wikipedia seems to frame it like a European thing. I always associated it with like older generations. They seem to all be hip to liverwurst while anyone gen x, millenial or gen z are always like wtf is liverwurst.

Literally the only place I've ever seen it as a deli option on a menu was when working assisted living. It's like choice of ham, turkey, roast beef or liverwurst.
