A snip from another source:

_______________________

Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor has died at the age of 56, her family has announced.

In a statement, the singer’s family said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

The acclaimed Dublin performer released 10 studio albums, while her song Nothing Compares 2 U was named the number one world single in 1990 by the Billboard Music Awards.

Ms O’Connor was presented with the inaugural award for Classic Irish Album at the RTÉ Choice Music Awards earlier this year.

I fear that it was by her own hand. She battled mental illness so much and so harshly. I hope I'm wrong. I hope she just died in her sleep naturally. But I would not be surprised if she orchestrated it. I hope she's found peace.

And no one here should dismiss her as a crazy person who talked shit about Prince. Let that stupid shit go. Prince was no angel either.

Let's keep it civil.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

And barely that. She would've been 57 in December.

Makes me think about Dolores O'Riordan dying at 46. Just barely getting started in life.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Very sad but even sadder when you hear "im not surpised", I have heard this sadly a few years back when someone I knew not very well, but knew of died by suicide (not saying that is what happened here but) and all of his freinds though sad were not in the least shocked. Its a sad thing but you really can't save, help everyone. The there is a light and help is all well said and good and true but you are going to lose some along the way while you say those words

Prince fans everywhere who put "Nothing Compares 2 U" anywhere near their top 10-20 are forever indebted to Sinead. Without her version that song would be placed somewhere around or below where the average fan places Dale Bozzio's "So Strong", Elisa FIorillo's "Love's No Fun" and the Bria Valente album.

R.I.P. Sinead.

RIP Sinead O'connor.
I remember seeing her before she really became famous. She was supporting INXS at Newcastle City Hall in the December of 1987. So pretty, with her shaved head she really left an impression on the whole audience. Especially when she was singing a particularly lovely little lullaby song where she began shouting near the end. Everyone got a fright and she really caught our attention! A true unique original.
Then, a few years later, she brought Nothing Compares 2 U to a new audience with a genius arrangement by Soul II Soul. Prince played it live on his next tour and reclaimed it but I think that the song would have been forgotten otherwise.
Such a sad ending. No one should outlive their children. She will be remembered for her beautiful voice and breathing life into a song that may have ended up like the 'flowers that you planted in the backyard'. Like all lives, she was much more than that, but we will all remember her for these things.💔

She seemed to have a very difficult life, with more than her own fair share of demons - but she was absolutely talented and – in her prime – quite stunning!

I recently rewatched her old appearance on Arsenio Hall, and she was glowing. Plus, she was speaking out against the record industry LONG before it was commonplace.

I know of her before NC2U ever came out, with Mandika and Emperor's New Clothes. I often wondered if NC2U actually harmed her career trajectory . . .

I think one thing to point out here is the danger is literally demonizing mental health. The "demons" she fought was all of us who were complicit and never said a thing when we saw something wrong. It was those who ignored her calls against the Catholic church and their chronic child sexual abuse and rape. She gets threats of violence from Sinatra for not playing a fucking anthem before a concert, yet where was he when he heard kids were being raped by priests?? Nowhere.

Mental health is not a demon.

Silence is the real devil. The one thing she wasn't was quiet.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

This post would have got 5 michelin stars if you tied this into Prince fans elsewhere on the internet crowbarring their petty beef with her Prince allegations in every other Sinead tribute on the web.

Honestly some of the other Prince fans outside of this thread are pure cringe and probably turning off a whole mass of people to Prince with their carrying on and rote dismissal of her feelings/interpretation in the name of stanning their fav, while the rest of the internet is trying to mourn no less.

I never took her words too seriously about Prince. Not that I believed he was an angel. I just knew she was acting or speaking from a place of pain. And while Prince probably kind of shit on her at some point (even if half the story was true), he just became a target for her, not a full-on source of all her trauma. If it wasn't him, it could've been anyone else. Even in her VMs to the police after he died, she mentioned Arsenion - again. I just felt sorry for her.

As far as other Prince fans - well. What can ya do?

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I think Sinead would have battered Prince if it ever came to it.

I met her once, we were birdwatching. She'd seen 7 owls and 13 Jays... I'll see myself out.

Hopefully this link works for y’all, of Fun Lovin' Criminals drummer Frank Benbini paying tribute to Sinead O'Connor and talking a bit of how they recorded her version of ‘I would die 4 u” for the album of Prince covers, ‘Purple Reggae’.
There may or may not be something coming!
