Joe Bala's What LP/CD/Cassette/Digital Music Are You Listening To?

Joe Bala's thread needs to live on! biggrin cool

I've been on a real Tina Turner kick since about two months before she passed away... Just got a notice that this out of print "Outta Season" LP that was re-issued will get here on Monday. Despite the awful relationship between Tina an Ike--the music they made together for the most part was great.

I went on a Tina binge a couple of months ago. Just after she passed. I remembered I had reconfigured Private Dancer and Wildest Dreams to reflect the European tracklistings rather than the US. She was very European at heart, so I wanted to hear them as she wanted them. "Wildest Dreams" has Antonio Banderes on it rather than Barry White. And one other song has a slightly different mix. "Whatever You Want" I think?

But I'd been listening to Acid Queen and Rough for a while already, but just started at Private Dancer and sailed through her albums. Her sound softened slightly as time went on. TwentyFourSeven seemed to be her more pop album, whereas Wildest Dreams felt much more R&B based in most areas. I threw in b-sides as best I could. It's when I realized she had originally don't "Don't Turn Around," that Ace of Base later made famous.

Bonnie Tyler did "Simply The Best" before Tina, and Tina re-recorded the song w/ an Australian singer as part of a soccer (football) promotion. I sorta knew about the duet, but not Tyler's version of that song.

The Tina journey is never boring.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I've been playing some Terence Trent D'arby.
His 4 albums. I recently bought his Greatest Hits (2cd)
The one with b-sides and remixes.

I dont know any of his music as Sananda Maitreya. I heard one song on YouTube, seen a few comments on the org. Think I'm gonna grab a used copy of Wild Card online
Cant believe my purple psychedelic pimp slap pimp2

And I descend from grace, In arms of undertow

I'm repeatedly listening to Grant Green's Slick! (Live at Oil Can Harry's) album and have zero plans on stopping until I've had enough.

[edit] Oh yeah, and Chocolate Milk's Action Speaks Louder Than Words and can't get enough of this album right now either.
