N.E. Heartbreak is one of the greatest albums of all time...Jimmy Jsm & Terry Lewis producing in their hitmaking prime...Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant sounded amazing together.

Two watershed moments in New Jack Swing.

If I picked one track from each,
"You're Not My Kind of Girl"

and

"Roni"

And I know Jam/Lewis are org favs, but, I dunno, even though it can be a little samey at time, just something about them Babyface songs.

Shame pretty much none of New Editions catlogue has been properly revisited. They shoulda done one more album when that biopic on Vh1 came out.

Anyway, both good albums of their era. Bobby has the stronger album though IMO razz

fun fact: the song "Every Little Step" almost made it onto Babyface's Tender Lover album. But he let Bobby hear it and Bobby begged him for it.

I wore these cd's out back in the day. If I recall correctly they were some of the first I ever bought (had tapes before that). Babyface, Teddy and Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis were on fire .

Wise move. Babyface is a decent singer, but the song needed that extra swagger to not drown it in sentiment and give it more edge. Bobby sounds great on "Every little step"!

Didn't the liner notes or some kind of press for Tender Lover say it was all songs nobody else wanted or that were rejected or something? Doubt Face fought Bobby hard on that one. He knew what really paid the bills.

What I Remember most about these are the LIVE SHOWS!! Both were EXCELLENT! And, being a Buffalo Kid, I could not help but Notice that Both Acts benefitted from the Services of Rick James' Stone City Band!!
