Memphis Man: Cadillac Riding With Isaac Hayes While singer/songwriter Isaac Hayes is considered a soul icon, there is so much about his life
that people don't know. Raised in extreme poverty in Memphis, Tennessee, he discovered his
musical gift while in high school and spent years toiling in juke-joints and blues bars before making
it through the doors of Stax Records and future stardom. In 1995 I had the honor of interviewing Hayes as we drove through Memphis in his white Cadillac and he shared a few amazing stories.
