Cmon...this is getting ridiculous...anyone that thinks RHCP version is anywhere near as good as the Ohio Players version, needs a complete mental and physical evaluation, and possibly lengthy incarceration

I happen to prefer the Chili Peppers version.

So I guess I belong in jail.

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions. You have the right to have a lawyer with you during questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you before any questioning if you wish. If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present, you have the right to stop answering at any time.

I elect to defend myself.
.
Exhibit A: the verse:
.
“Move it over dad cause I'm a double-dipper!
Upside down on the zip-zip-zipper
1, 2, 1, 2, 3, oh I′ve got a ticket so ride with me
Mary go down on the merry-go-round
All is fair on the fair ground
Love go slow, love go fast
Licorice twist gonna whip your ass”
.
These lyrical additions expand the song beyond the more limited parameters of the Ohio Players original (which sounds like a demo, albeit a well-played/produced demo, by comparison). I can’t say for certain if these are exactly the lyrics Anthony Kiedis sings/raps (I never understood them word-for-word, so I had to consult some lyrics sites). They kick ass, which brings me to exhibit B…
.
“Beavis and Butt-head Do America,” one of the funniest animated films of all time and a keystone for late-90s pop culture. The RHCP version is part of the film and the accompanying soundtrack, which elevates their version to ‘next-level’ bad-assness. The music video has Beavis as a sperm, that indelible image alone is cooler than than anything in the original version.
.
Exhibit C, the Ohio Players version includes what appears to be a live murder as the band blithely continues playing. We will never know the truth - the band has played coy. The claim was even substantiated by none other than Casey Kasem. The heinous crime perpetrated on an innocent woman makes the celebration of the Ohio Players version even more egregious than the continued adoration shown for Gary Glitter’s “Rock and Roll Pt 2” or The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter.”
.
In closing, the Red Hot Chili Peppers rescued the song “Love Rollercoaster” from infamy, made it their own, and for that we owe them the greatest respect and gratitude.
.
I rest my case.
I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.
