This is a tough blow for Rap. He was one of the pioneers with DeLaSoul. These guys were still putting out good stuff. I thought their Artificial Intelligence:Mosaic Thump and Artificial Intelligence:Bionix albums were some of their best work. Buhloone Mind State and The Stakes Is High were solid too. RIP Dave

Found out during halftime on Sun. and this one hurt- longtime De La fan that could never decide who was the better group between Tribe and De La. * Dave was a helluva lyricist and poet without a whole lot of "punchlines" or half-bar quotables in his catalogue. Dave was one of those (kinda like T.I., in my opinion) whose verses were dope AF when you take in his wordplay and stream of thought in considering his interpretation of a "concept" for 16 bars. Also always appreciated his social and state-of-hip-hip commentary that seemed to mature as all of us (including him) got older. Lastly, Dave was so dope that he could change his rap moniker to his government name (from Trugoy to Dave) and still remain an amazing MC... * Dope De La songs with dope verses from Dave to consider: original Plug Tunin, Peas Porridge, I Am I Be, The Bizness, Much More, Get Away (ft. Wu), and that's all of the top of my head but so much more... * De La and Tribe are done. Thanks to the Native Tongues for great music and a helluva soundtrack to my life... * Props to Plug 1 and Plug 3...

I could never pick a favorite between Tribe and DeLaSoul either. It's like trying to pick your favortie sibling. You just can't. While Posdunos was dope as well on the mike it just seemed like Dave just had that something extra that gave DeLaSoul it's identity just like Ecstasy with Whodini. It was great watching DeLaSoul continue to make great music entering the 4th quarter of their careers. I can't wait until March 3rd when all their albums make it to the streaming platforms. I loved DeLaSoul, 3 Feet High & Rising was amazing, as was 'Me Myself & I' and 'Say No Go'. Rest in power, Dave.

Someone posted an old De La Soul advertisement for 3 Feet High with a dorky guy holding the record that says “I came for Prince but I came out with De La Soul” [Edited 3/2/23 15:41pm] if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2
