No, Dirty Mind was not the best album in 1980.

I love Dirty Mind but the best album that year was Black Sea by XTC. Respectable Street was the best single as well. Sorry purple loves, so true, at the time they were the new Beatles. Prince was just getting his cherry.

I'll tell U what the Eye in the Pimp stand 4!

There were a bunch of those I guess, but I'll throw the legendary Stevie Wonder's Hotter than July as my pick, with it's dance floor anthems, heartbreak tearjerkers, social justice poems. The thing is timeless IMO.

The best album of 1980 was "Faces" by Earth Wind & Fire....nothing even comes close.

The other "McG" is not even a real McG. She's a "Cun".

I mean "Cun" as in Cunningham by the way. I'm not calling her any derogatory names lol

Pretty sure she's married to famed flim director McG. She was always playing it close to the vest in Christian Bale meltdown threads.

Yeah she really dislikes Christian Bale for whatever reason. I've never seen that Terminator movie, nor had I ever heard of its director until now. He's a got a stupid name though lol

I retract this statement.

Irons In The Fire by Teena Marie is the best album from 1980 (that I've heard).

Don't know enough to judge the 'best', but I much prefer The Police's Zenyatta Mondatta. Never been much a fan of Dirty Mind.

Aside from a few songs, i wasn't really into Prince at that time. Even though 'Dirty Mind' is when Prince became 'Prince', I didn't hear the album until much later. It was pretty much ignored by NYC radio stations like WBLS & WKTU.

Favorite LPs from 1980? I'd say Stevie's "Hotter than July", The Police's "Zenyatta Mondatta", Change's "The Glow of Love", Patrice Rushen's "Posh". I tried, but couldn't get into EW&F's "Faces".

Dirty Mind is my best album of 1980, but I have Killing Joke - Killing Joke and Joy Division - Closer right behind it.
