Favorite 2022 releases Here are a few of mine in no particular order.
1. Steve Lacy -Gemini Rights - This album reminded me a bit of Pre-1990s Prince in it's inventiveness, genre blending, and being able to have hit songs (the year's #1 streaming song Bad Habit) despite most of the material being to unique for pop radio. The album is a grower,
2. Madonna -Finally Enough Love - These 50 #1 Billboard Dance Chart hits has been a blast to exercise to. A surprise is the newer songs are generally as good as the older ones in these dance versions.
3. Hurray For the Riff Raff - Life on Earth - This lyrics may seem like a downer for some, but it is an excellent album with a wide variety of styles.
4. Weyes Blood - And in the Darkness Hearts Aglow - Wonderful voice and melodies, affectionately called "Chamber Pop" due to the lyrics being literate and the music being fairly sophisticated for pop. Timeless!
5. Harry Styles - Harry's House - This isn't exactly in my top 5 favorites, as I just listen to about half the songs on a playlist. However, I do really appreciate Harry bringing talent and good songs back into mainstream pop. His single As It Was broke records and is still among the top 10 played songs after being out for over 7 months. | |
