Coolio, who was 59, passed away at a friend's house, his manager Jarez Posey told The Associated Press.

"We are saddened by the loss of our dear friend and client, Coolio, who passed away Wednesday afternoon," the artist's talent manager Sheila Finegan

"He touched the world with the gift of his talent and will be missed profoundly," the statement continued. "Thank you to everyone worldwide who has listened to his music and to everyone who has been reaching out regarding his passing."

"Please have Coolio's loved ones in your thoughts and prayers."

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
