I mean some good songs on there but please, as soon as I Click on the link and see Toto "AFRICA" is number 100, I know this list is going to be laughable, and some of these choices are, also I agree about the omission of Laura Brannigan, I mean come on one of the biggest songs of the year and still huge today, same goes for TOTO that song has had more life than most on this list. Also people may disagree and maybe its not RS cup of tea but did I miss Air Supply on here? I know we think that isn't music or RS doesn't think they are but please one of the biggest duos in that short time period as we went from Disco to New Wave.

thing is RS labels it top songs of 1982 not favorite songs or best choices. Which is why if Africa by Toto is number 100 the list seems upside down

Also as always RS is trying to seem hip or knowledgeable, putting REM number four a track off chronic town which just got a proper rerelease, and it's not that great an rem track it's ok but it's here because all of a sudden there is focus on that release.

Yeah to each their own. But I think there was a lot of great albums released in 1982 such as Thriller, Rio, 1999, American Fool, H2O to name a few. But anyone can come up with a list. You get a 100 people to make a list of the top 100 songs of 1982 and you will get a 100 different lists. I'm sure some of the lists you would agree with and others you won't.

There was alot of great R&B/funk music released in 1982.The Gap Band released their strongest album 'IV'....Cameo released 'Alligator Woman'....even War made a great comeback with their 'Outlaw' album.Later that year,Prince put out his best album '1999' and let's not forget The Time's 'What Time Is It'.

As far as Rolling Stones list go it's all subjective. I couldn't name one song by Laura Branigan but did remember her name once someone brought her up.

I have a question out of curiosity. Did anyone notice whether a Jody Watley solo song

was on this list? I didn't see the whole list but it's possible. I did notice Shalamar's A Night To Remember was number 72. I notice her die hard fans and even her on the internet like to boast about her solo career being larger than Shalamar or whatever but I'm like chill baby girl ain't nobody checking for them songs at the cookout if even at all now.

A Night To Remember, Second Time Around, and Make That Move are always gonna get more love

from black radio and the cookout than any of your solo records.

I also remember that Luther Vandross released his second album 'Forever,For Always,For Love' in 1982.Also,my favorite SOS Band hit ("High Hopes") came out in '82 So many exciting things going on in the R&B world in '82.

I always think of "Billie Jean" as a 1983 song., because thats the year it blew up as a single.

Most of these listmakers are. 20 years ago their "Top" whatever lists were comprised Beatles, Beatles, more Beatles and subsequent Beatles solo records. now every list in 2022 suddenly discovered existence of black art... Guess it's better late than never, but the public should never forget these publications are all fakin' the funk.
