Recent Lionel Richie concert Went to see Lionel Richie for the first time ever, a few weeks ago. . Fantastic show. Only about 90 minutes, but wall-to-wall hits delivered by a tight, funky band. Even did a short version of "We Are the World." At 73, robust and energetic, bouncing around the stage. Voice sounded great. Played piano for most of his big ballads. Commodores hits, including a couple he didn't originally sing, like "Brick House." Biggest surprise was a cover of Ohio Players' "Fire," complete with some pyrotechnic effects. . One of those rare artists who has soundtracked a whole generation of people's lives. Sent me right back to his old records, especially "Can't Slow Down," but also "Dancing on the Ceiling." In fact, just about the only big hits he didn't do were from the latter, "Ballerina Girl" (perhaps tough on his voice these days) and "Love Will Conquor All." . So glad I went to see this legend, finally. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

My aunt saw Lionel with Pointer Sisters as opening act back in the 80s. Sheila E. was his drummer. She raved about the whole thing. It was probably the Can't Slow Down Tour. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
