I really like this track, it has a mix of harmony of old times, and of course lyrically is very "nostalgic" could be about them saying goodbye or could be about just the end of a show, friendship etc...so very smart release also, because it could be great LIVE for them. I like the end where a few voices get to sing a line, at this point outside of Robert Lamm and Jimmy Pankow and Lee, I think they are the only 3 left in the band from day one, but great thing to keep that feel of all the eras of Chicago in this.

Many fans are hoping that Peter Cetera and Danny Seraphine will perform with the band again.Perhaps the song lyrics are suggesting that they get together one more time?

seems that some fans think that this song is a goodbye letter to the fans eek Chicago had to clarify things....

To those questioning the song title and lyrics, Chicago has no plans to stop performing anytime soon. At some point we will have to bid farewell, this song captures the feeling of that eventuality.

I am glad they put this out there and also glad the way they said at some point we will have to bid farewell, though there are three originals still, some bands I feel and a few are doing shows with no originals at all and I have mixed feelings with that, because you are a cover band pretty much I think. Chicago and others still have core members so I don't feel that about them though some people otherwise, but then again some people aren't even aware sometimes who an original member is, people talk about Steve Perry like he was the original guy, he wasn't, another band that tours a lot REO lead singer Kevin Cronin who they had almost all the hits with was not the original guy and he was let go before they had a hit and then brought back again.

Yeah, well I won't see Journey without Steve Perry or Queen without Freddy.

Chicago releasing new studio album, ‘Born for This Moment,’ in July

As Chicago prepares to launch a new headlining tour Tuesday night with Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson, the band has announced plans to release its 38th studio album, Born for This Moment, on July 15.

The 14-track collection includes “If This Is Goodbye,” which Chicago released last month as a digital single. Fans who preorder Born for This Moment now will also receive access to a second track from the album, the funky, soulful “Firecracker,” which was made available to digital platforms Tuesday.

In addition, a visualizer video for “Firecracker” has debuted at Chicago’s official YouTube channel.

“I hope that, 55 years from now, listeners will actually feel something about our music and our lyrics,” says founding Chicago singer/keyboardist Robert Lamm. “I mean, we’re all human. We all go through some variation of the same pain and joy at some point in our lives, and there’s a commonality to that. I hope listeners in the future will actually get all those feelings while listening to our music.”

Adds Chicago trumpet player Lee Loughnane, “One of the big reasons this album works so well is that when you put it on and play it, you hear something you’re not quite expecting to hear, and it immediately pulls you in musically and emotionally.”

Chicago trombone player James Pankow notes, “The very nature of these new tracks makes them very performable, and I’m looking forward to playing some fresh material onstage.”

Chicago’s tour with Wilson runs from Tuesday night’s performance in Phoenix through a July 26 concert in the Detroit suburb of Clarkston, Michigan. The band also has a series of North American headlining shows scheduled for late August and September. Visit ChicagoTheBand.com to check out all the dates.

the band issued a statement the day after this song came out saying it was not a swan song despite the feel and title of you really look at it, and listen it's really about the relation of a night or show with their audience, of course some are complaining how this video has no peter flashbacks etc...and the answer is the flashes are of the three still in the band because as they said it's about the live shows and them now.
