I'm so glad Frusciante is back! Don't get me wrong Josh did a great job filling in for him but John is essential for the band. My favorite songs off the new album are Here Ever After, Aquatic Mouth Dance, The Great Apes and Black Summer.

My new favorite song is Let 'Em Cry. Catchy as hell and gotta love the Frusciante guitar solo. Speaking of Frusciante in The Heavy Wing I love how Anthony let's him take over the singing in the hook. At least it sounds like Frusciante is more up front vocally. This album is definitely a grower. The more times I listen I find new things to like

Debut at #1 Everything aligned for Red Hot Chili Peppers’ latest album, “Unlimited Love,” which has opened at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, the band’s second time at the top. https://www.nytimes.com/2...t.amp.htmlThe Chili Peppers reunited with its former guitarist, John Frusciante, for the album. He has been in and out of the band since 1988 — with his most recent departure coming after the tour for “Stadium Arcadium” (2006), the group’s last album to go to No. 1. “Unlimited Love” also put the band back in the studio with Rick Rubin, who has produced most of the Chili Peppers’ albums since 1991, but not its most recent, “The Getaway” (2016, with Danger Mouse). And if there were an award for most unusual promotional appearances, it might go to a recent one by Flea, the band’s inimitable bassist, who offered a lunging, psych-funk solo instrumental version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the Lakers-Nuggets game on April 3. (Did it result in sales or streams of “Unlimited Love”? Who knows, but it’s a must-see for any Chili Peppers fan.) In its first week out, “Unlimited Love” had the equivalent of 97,500 sales in the United States, according to the tracking service Luminate, formerly known as MRC Data. That total includes 19 million streams — modest for a No. 1 album these days — as well as 82,500 copies sold as a complete package, among them a hefty 38,500 copies on vinyl.

Yeah - each day I have a new favourite track off the album. Let 'Em Cry is definitely up there. I'm really liking Aquatic Mouth Dance too, love the inclusion of horns on that. White Braids & Pillow Chair is good, really nice outro. I think my favourite is still It's Only Natural - love the melody of the verses and the solo is beautiful

I can't stop listening to this album. That's rare for a new release for me. Chad, Flea and John's musicianship is impeccable. I know Anthony's lyrics get some hate but I find him to be like a funky Dr.Seuss. What sounds bizarre or abstract is part of his charm. I love his harmonies with John and Josh. How would you rank the albums? Right now mine would go 1. Blood Sugar Sex Magik 2. Unlimited Love 3. By the Way 4. Mother's Milk 5. Californication 6. The Getaway 7. Stadium Arcadium 8. The Uplift Mofo Party Plan 9. Freaky Styley 10. I'm With You 11. Red Hot Chili Peppers 12. One Hot Minute

A few shout outs I noticed in the lyrics to Let'Em Cry.. "We got Madonna" "We got Nirvana I think Anthony was seeing Madonna in the 90s IIRC. Nirvana were friends with the Peppers. The other lyric that caught my ear was in Here Ever After with a mention to the Quick Stop from Kevin Smith's movie. "She's Eurasian, met her at the Quick Stop" I'm sure there are a lot more shout outs especially in Poster Child lol. That might be a fun one to try karaoke too or a nightmare. Here's all the lyrics to that one... "Melly Mell and Richard Hell were dancing at the Taco Bell When someone heard a rebel yell, I think it was an infidel Adam Ant and Robert Plant were centers of a sycophant Enlisted by Ulysses Grant to record at the Record Plant Islamabad is on the nod, Havana at the riot squad And if you want to be a Mod, you'll have to meet me at the quad You got the best of my loco I'll take the rest of your showboat You got the best of my Yoko I'll take the rest of your low note Parliament's Atomic Dog, their hats were filling up with fog We talk about the life and death of everything in analog The seventies were such a win, singing the Led Zeppelin Lizzie looking mighty thin, the Thomson's had another twin I thought I won the lottery, the numbers never thought of me Ramones had a lobotomy, so spin me like a pottery I will be your poster child You know the world is ours for a little while And then, I will be your poster child tonight La da da da bum bum ba-dum A funky piece, the Sandinista, me and mother Monalisa Judas Priest has whipped beast, the mother love as named Theresa Bubble gum, a cup of soup, dirty dandy nanda loop A small banana in your hoop, and now I know the band is Ruca Bernie Mac and Caddyshack were dusty as the bricker brack And if you ask me for the time, I'll tell you that the preacher's back You got the best of my loco I'll take the rest of your showboat You got the best of my Yoko I'll take the rest of your low note Steve Miller and Duran Duran, the Joker dancing in the sand Van Morrison, the Astral man, the festival of hurricanes Speak of Chico, weatherman, the silence of a certain lamb MC5 kicked off the jam, a poncho full of contraband Marry Queen was on the scene in every preteen magazine The Motörhead and mystic queen are pissed he needed Valvoline I will be your poster child You know the world is ours for a little while And then, I will be your poster child tonight La da da da bum bum ba-dum You got me on this Well and I can't get off With no one else but you You turn me on too Well then I can't get up For no one else but you Cream magazine and Love Supreme, the ballad of a Billie Jean And now we know the status quo, but God would never save the queen Hear me shaking, Copenhagen, copper goose of Ronald Regan Dollar savers, Flavor Flav, and cosmic moves are power saving And my fist a double kissed unlisted number purple mist and Chubby Checker do the twist, and everyone's a narcissist You got the best of my loco I'll take the rest of your showboat You got the best of my Yoko I'll take the rest of your low note The water bed was taking meds and Bieber with the house of red I'm ready for the natty dread, a pocket full of talking heads M.I.A.'s making paper planes, addiction to the ways of Janes My stuff is made of purple rain, ten fingers in the lion's mane Giant squid, Karate Kid, Sid Vicious in the Katie-did The planet that we must forbid, the English speakers in Madrid I will be your poster child You know the world is ours for a little while And then, I will be your poster child tonight La da da da bum bum ba-dum I will be your poster child You know the world is ours for a little while And then, I will be your poster child tonight La da da da bum bum ba-dum"
