Which "new" songs really get a party going?

All,

we'll be having a huge party, first one after all the small lock-down reunions. And of course we want to dance. Crowd is 45-55 years old...

I know all the old-time classics, but need some suggestions - what new songs do you think will keep people on the floor (so it is not just oldies night...)?

Any suggestions will be blasted at full volume prior to the party and evaluated for dance-floor readiness music fro

Pretty much anything by Tuxedo but if you're only looking for one song per artist, I'd recommend the song "Shy" by Tuxedo featuring Zapp. Great, old school feel but still modern.

Anything from Chromeo is a guaranteed crowd pleaser too.

No, no genre preferences, but songs with a good groove that people are a bit familiar with (radio etc.), so mainly Top 40 songs but "dance-floor friendly".

Examples would be Bruno Mars / Mark Ronson "Uptown Funk", or "Blurred Lines" (Thicke/Williams), or "Dopamine" (Purple Disco Machine), or "Valerie" (Winehouse/Ronson). So things that mix well with a bit of old times disco, 80s dance etc.

Just to give you an indication: I personally currently dig Duke Dumunt & Channel Tres "Alter Ego", but this is probably too unknown an track... (but awesome groove... maybe I try to snug it in...)

So, no "coolness" factor necessary, just modern feel-good dance songs cool

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Does Morris Day have a song called Headshot? Or do you mean "Headrush".

Speaking of Morris Day, I'd also recommend his latest single "Grown Man".

That's right. I had recently watched some of the clips of when Eddie Murphy returned to SNL to host after not appearing on the show since the 1980s. On the Weekend Update, Eddie was Gumby and he called one of the news anchors a "headshot". lol So I guess I was thinking of the skit when I wrote that. I think Eddie ad-libbed some of the Gumby dialogue.

It seems a lot of artists are harkening to an old school disco/soul type vibe, and I'm here for it.

Here's some new, with a little older

Lizzo - About Damn Time

Lizzo - Juice

Doja Cat - Say So

Justin Timberlake & SZA - The Other Side

Doja Cat & SZA - Kiss Me More

Billy Porter - Children

Billy Porter - Finally Ready

BTS - Butter

BTS - Dynamite

Jon Batiste - Freedom

Jon Batiste - I Need You

Chaka Khan - Like Sugar

RuPaul - Catwalk

Keith Urban - Fighter

Clean Bandit - Stronger

Jess Glynne - Hold My Hand

Clean Bandit w/ Jess Glynne - Rather Be

Sherrie Lea - Spellbound

All of Silk Sonic's record, and Bruno's 24K Magic record.

Thanks for all the suggestions, really great ones. I love the new Lizzo tune, that I will surely incorporate. And the Vintage Trouble song is great, never heard of them before!
