RIP Taylor Hawkins, Drummer for Foo Fighters

Rolling Stone says
...

Taylor Hawkins, the jovial, ferocious drummer for Foo Fighters, has died at the age of 50, according to a statement from the band.

“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins,” read the message, which was posted to social media. “His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever.” Foo Fighters are currently on tour in South America and were preparing to perform at Festival Estéreo Picnic in Bogotá, Colombia, a rep for the band told Rolling Stone.

TMZ says...

The band is in Bogota, Colombia where they were scheduled to play Friday ... and that is reportedly where Taylor died. So far, there are no further details about where or how he passed away.

Taylor had substance abuse issues in the past, and actually survived a 2001 heroin overdose.

Taylor and his Foo Fighter bandmates were supposed to headline Lollapalooza Brazil on Sunday night. Obviously, that gig is now up in the air.

Taylor was 50.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Very sad and even sadder is the press and news outlets. Can they just let family and friends deal with a major loss in their lives without guessing death causes. One newspaper prints a headline "Drugs possibly the cause" in bold letters than at the end of the article puts "No cause of death has been released" I think everytime a news outlet does this they should just be sued, regardless if that is what it was, you dont guess and then say "no cause found yet" no regard for human life, the press sucks and is shameful.

It's human curiosity. The press is just reflecting what folks are thinking. You can't blame them. Behind the press are curious folks just like you and me.

You're a fascist if you think news outlets should be sued for such things. But then again, maybe you're a fan of totalitarian dictators. The dude had issues with drugs in the past, including a heroin overdose in 2001.

Like every other rock star, including Prince, had had a drug problem, either current or in the past. Did it kill him? Don't know. He could've just died in his sleep, he could be suicide. It could be anything. But to say "drugs possibly a cause" isn't an absolute. It's a possibility, and a logical one.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Just another tragic loss for music and humanity. Condolences to his family and friends, this just sucks.

Obviously I didn't know this man but in every interview and everything I've seen, he seemed like a great guy and a hell of a musician. I'm tuning out of the media speculation and all the bullshit that comes from being famous and passing entirely too soon.

RIP

Although Hawkins’ cause of death has not been confirmed, the Attorney General’s Office of Colombia on Saturday evening (March 26) reported an update that a urine toxicology test had found traces of 10 types of substances in his system, including THC (marijuana), tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids.

Yeah, and it was also reported that the call said he was having chest pains. They tried to revive him at the scene, but were unsuccessful.

In pictures that everyone is sharing, he has a photo of Barry Gibb on his drums, any idea why?

The Foo Fighters are huge fans of the Bee Gees. They even did a Bee Gees remake album last year.

how about you put that "no cause found" in your headline and not "drugs possible cause" right there that's where you are guessing, and sorry it wrong to start printing your guesses, print facts not opinions. Sure he had a drug history and an OD twenty years ago, and maybe something happened to kick up his addictions, but don't guess it. Anything could have been a cause if that's the case, hotel staff said he was complaining of chest pains, but that's not sexy as a OD. News outlets have been sued Elton John did it numerous times for false drug accusations because he had a drug past, Steven tyler sued for an article saying he relapsed when he didn't, you can't print your guesses, would be ok if they said "covid vaccine a possible cause" he got one a week ago, or any number of guesses, could simply have been a heart attack, could have been drugs, could have been something else. But news outlets are ratings and click whores, they have to be first on a story then they have to be first to speculate .

Prelim toxicology reports state that 10 substances were found in his body. Doesn't say that that's what he died of but it's still pretty staggering and sad.

He is a 50 year old man, I mean as it was said when Prince died why didn’t this person do this or that but Prince literally died a week before on a plane from an OD you can help a person but are you going to be in their presence twenty four hours a day everyday if their life. This is a tragic loss and shows the power of these things and also can doctors stop prescribing multiple legal drugs to those who have had addiction history why don’t we call them out ever? So laying the blame on David or other band members or his wife and kids and ignorant sorry. Only you can save and stop you.

I don't think anyone is blaming anyone.

I think did David not know what he was ingesting is a blame or a shot that he should know what a 50 year old man with a wife and three kids is doing every second of his days. Why is it Davids responsibility why not mention the other band members the doctors who handed the stuff out like candy, I mean the Didn’t David know what he was ingesting sounds like blame to me.

The guy has only been dead for a couple of days and no one on here knows any real details any way and so I'm not going to speculate.
