It seems that people aren't choosing only solo acts, so that changes things a bit.

I'd guess MJ, Madonna, Stevie and David Bowie would be the most popular here along with some guy from MPLS.

1) Prince -- he's a good reference point for foundational artists (so, I'm cheating and using him to reference Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone, Jimi Hendrix, Santana and James Brown -- which frees me up to mention the following).
2) Brad Mehldau -- the brother plays!!! "Wrong" notes and all... 3) Stevie Ray Vaughan -- the brother played!!! Had a wonderful way of pulling on his blues & jazz heroes while doing something comprehensive and warm with those huge, bear-claw hands of his. 4) Terence Trent D'arby -- he's got this wonderful, soul-revue thing going on, something that is this "history of rock and roll" thing mixed with poetry and humor. The boy's bad. 5) Myself, but that does nothing for the rest of y'all, I'm sure.
