***Madonna---Nobody excites me the way Maddy does.I literally go nuts everytime she releases a new CD,as you can tell from the many threads I started about her...lol...
***Donna Summer---When I was a kid growing up in the 70s,Donna Summer was tops! Ever since "Last Dance" in 1978,I have followed her career with much joy and enthusiasm. What an amazing voice!!
***Natalie Cole---This woman is so classy and talented! Her voice is supreme. These days, she is primarily a jazz vocalist, but I love her pop/R&B stuff too (particularly late 70s hits like "I've Got Love On My Mind " and "Our Love").She is incredible!
***Dionne Warwick---I love Dionne! Songs like "Walk On By","I'll Never Love This Way Again" and "Deja Vu" are musical treasures, highlighted by her beautiful vocals.I simply love hearing her sing.
***Millie Jackson---I bet that half of you don't even know who she is...lol...Millie's songs weren't really played on the radio because of their shocking, blunt lyrics and subject matter. Her songs are filled with adult humor and a sassy "tell-it-like-it-is" attitude that you just don't hear from today's so-called "divas".

The Phuck U Symphony alright:nod:

In no special order:

1.Billie Holiday-What do I really have to say about Billie??

2.Angela Winbush-This woman is an RnB legend(a painfuly underrated RnB legend). She started her career singing in Stevie Wonder's back-up group "Wonderlove". she write lyrics-to-die 4, play instruments, produce sessions and sing the living hell outta them. Her voice is a mixture of Chaka Khan/Aretha/Minnie/Donny.

3.Chaka Khan-I remember the very 1st time when I heard "Sleep On It" when I was only 5 years old. Damn I loved that voice!

4.Mary J Blige-This woman is a true survivour! when she 1st came out she was hated alot now everybody loves her. She survived from drugs and an ugly physical relationship. Plus, her music speaks str8 to the heart of everybody.

5.Lauryn Hill-I simply relate to every word she says cuz I've been right there. Plus, a very earth and intelligent sistah.

I would really love to see Erykah with an all female back-up...Sheila E. on the drums, Meshell on bass, Lisa Coleman on keyboards, Wendy on geetar, Candy on Saxx...doing a cover of Joni's "Don't Interrupt the Sorrow."

This was easier. Mainly because I don't like a lot of female artists.

1) Aretha Franklin [The one and only Queen]
2) Chaka Khan [Chaka can't do no wrong]
3) Anita Baker [For knowing when to call it quits]
4) Lauryn Hill [The best is yet to come...]
5) Alicia Keys [Because I Love her, nuff said]

ThreadBare

1) Nikka Costa
2) Aretha Franklin
3) Nichole Nordeman
4) Fiona Apple
5) Natalie Merchant

(though, on any given week, Nat might get bumped for Wendy Melvoin, Lalah Hathaway or Norah Jones...)

Interesting that Madonna was mentioned 16 times, and Bjork 12. We seem to have similar tastes.
