Any fans of Kid 'N Play? No bashing them either!

They aiight. Came at a time when hip hop was still fun. They were fluff and good for the kids and teens. The only got 3 albums.
What really made them are the House Party films. That became more popular than their music.

I loved them featured on Salt N Pepa's "I Don't Know" on Black's Magic. That song bangs.

I haven't seen the movie, but Play made the jackets. I think Salt's sister was one of Kid n Play's backup dancers.

they were a breath of fresh air and a catalyst in the transition from the nut grabbing stage prowling MCs with varying degrees of stage presence. their energy and dance moves made ppl step their game up big time. saw them in concert and they brought the energy and choreography. Heavy D and Big Daddy Kane's background dancers and later Hammer, really made dancing cool and integral to that era. Kid and Play were the first duo to basically be rappers whose dancing was just as good or better than the background guys others had to "employ". their haircuts (esp Kid's obviously) made them a novelty during that era and they were comfortable with their fun/party vibe niche, but they weren't bad lyrically either (Gettin' Funky and Do This My Way are faves of mine, esp. the video for the latter) i had a chance to meet and interview Play later in life, super gracious man.

LL was one of the aforementioned nut grabbing stage prowling MCs and I'm convinced Kid and Play's influence made him evolve. I was at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit when LL REALLY danced for the first time on stage. I had seen him before and his energy held your attention but the genre was changing fast. We were all waiting with bated breath when he came out as the headliner on a tour that had KnP, Heavy D, and others so there had been some SERIOUS dancing. The Walking with a Panther album was out and the new single was Jingling Baby (the video had not yet premiered). The arena erupted when he "broke it down" during that song (like he does in the video). LL had evolved (assisted by KnP) and the audience LOVED it!

Emphases on the 2 boldeds. In my city, LL co-headlined with PE for what was called the "Nitro" tour and I remember him dancing with his background dancers.

Whodini may have beat them too it. After UTFO left as their background dancers to become rappers

in their own right Whodini would dance themselves especially Jalil. They used to rock the Pee Wee

Herman, Cabbage Patch, and other dances on the Fresh Fest tours.

I liked them back in the day and in that movie with Full Force but I can´t even remember a single song by them. It´s like my memories regarding KidNPlay are completely erased.

I can't remember any of there songs, but i think i liked them. I know I saw the 'House Party' movie but the only thing I remember is them being in it.
