Sinead O’Connor has announced that her 17-year-old son, Shane, has died suddenly. The singer, 55, said that “the light of my life”, who was reported missing from Tallaght University Hospital in Dublin last Thursday, had “decided to end his earthly struggle”. Police found his body in a suburb of the Irish capital on Friday night.O’Connor, who shot to superstardom in 1990 with a cover of Prince’s Nothing Compares 2 U, wrote on Twitter early yesterday: “My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God. | |

This poor woman can't catch a break. She's dealt with mental health issues and grief in recent years, what seems more than any other time (publicly) in her life. Now this? My first reaction was a fear that she will do something horrible to herself. "  don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r." |

It's a hell of thing to go through. I've never been a fan of her music, but I do feel for her after all she's been through with her own terrible childhood and mental health problems. I hope she has a good support system. | |

He didn't go missing under her care. He was admitted to a hospital under suicide watch. I suppose he escaped? She's angry right now. |

She has now been hospitalized after saying she was going to kill herself. She also claims treatment will only put off temporarily her plans. | |

She's got self hatred and demons brought on by abuse in her past for sure. I only hope she finds the strength and courage to get through this. She might not have any fight left in her. She's strong but only human. Nobody should outlive their own children. | |
