Prince doing New Jack eek

This one definitely slipped by me. lol I guess I shouldn't be surprised. All the old school

artists had to play the game. The only one that I can think of who I don't recall doing

New Jack was Freddie Jackson.

I think it's a good song, but it sounds like most of the music that was being played on R&B radio during that time.Which means it probably would have been a big hit back then.

It's odd that Prince waited until 1994 before finally appearing on Soul Train smile It would have been cool if he had appeared in 1981 or 1982.

There needs to be a movie about Soul Train.Throughout the years,I have heard about plans for some kind of film. One idea is to make a movie about the Soul Trains dancers.Another idea is to make it a biopic about Don Cornelius' life.

There's already a show called "American Soul", executive produced by Tony Cornelius and there's suppose to be a Broadway musical which would be produced by ?uestLove

***fun fact——Gino Vanelli was the first White artist to perform on Soul Train. He performed his hit “People Gotta Move” in 1974.A year later,Elton John and then David Bowie also performed on the show.

That wasn’t the real Funkadelic.A few members angrily left the band and created their own version using the name (of course,George Clinton sued them). They performed on the show in 1981.

Wow! I wonder why? When you think of 70s Funk those two bands were the leaders of the pack.

Indeed, but I wonder…how could all those members of P-Funk fit on that small stage?
biggrin it might have been hard to do.

In the early days of Soul Train,a few artists performed live. But after awhile,Don insisted that the performers lip-sync and I think that may be why EW&F and Parliament/Funkadelic chose not to perform.
