Anyone recommend some good 90s house-dance music? I love the sound of Prince's early-mid 90s house tracks, stuff like New World, The Human Body, Letitgo and its accompanying remixes, also love the uptempos on Chaka's The Woman I Am alhum (Love You All My Lifetime, I Want etc) and the great house remixes of the 90s with all that great piano playing, stuff like Janet's If Brothers In Rhythm remix etc. Can anyone recommend me any further listening of music in this style?

I always look for DJ's/Producers from that era and follow the rabbit hole. Masters at Work is a great start as they are essential to that era. I'd also suggest Eric Kupper, Satoshi Tomiie, Goh Hotoda, Hani, Todd Terry, etc. they all have notable albums, remixes and collaborations. if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2

. I LOVE Steve "Silk" Hurley's remix of Makin' Happy, something about the chords on the "Why don't you make me happy?" part kills me everytime, so beautiful. if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2

come on now, these are the the most commercial house tracks ever made, it's not even house, it's pop music with a house bead
For some really house classics try some Strings of life, Gat decor, Pasific state, Funky green dogs or Soma

I´m not an expert and I´m not sure if you´ll like my suggestions (because I don´t really like most of the songs you mentioned above) but if I were you I´d check out Masters at Work, check out the stuff they did with La India ( Love and Happiness and its gazillion remixes), check out Bucie from South Africa, check out Black Coffee from South Africa, Frankie Knuckles from Chicago, or listen to any of the deep house vocal or instrumental mixes by JaBig from Canada...he´s got lots of mixes on Youtube, from classic old school house to more modern house and deep house. As I said above, I am by no means an expert but those I mentioned above might be to your liking. Oh, also check out Miguel Migs. He works with Meshell N´Degocello sometimes and he also did a song with Andy Allo called This Feeling that I absolutely love. I never was a big fan of Andy´s style of music but This Feeling is a wonderful tune. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Since we're talking MASTERS AT WORK featuring INDIA, I just wanna say I absolutely adore their version of Runaway (the original) while Armand Van Helden delivered a stellar remix. Armand's style is a bit more avant garde for 90s dance but he is definitely one to look into (U Don't Know Me, Spin Spin Sugar, Professional Widow, etc.) if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2

An entire 500+ page book could be written on the topic of 90s house music (and ought to be by someone with more time than myself) but you MUST listen to "RomanWorld" by Romanthony (1994 or was it 1995?). A better slab of house music does not exist, IMO. The whole thing is on YouTube. Romanthony is from New Jersey. I recently discovered that New Jersey was (and by a wide margin) the most active and aggressive non-Southern slave state. They had slavery right up until the onset of the Civil War - in fact Blacks used to commonly run away from their master in New Jersey and disappear into New York City (after finding a way to cross the Hudson River - not necessarily as easy to do as one might think in the 1800s) and be free. Of course, there were highly organized networks of viciously racist money-hungry bounty hunters (to say nothing of straight up kidnappers) operating in NYC in early half of the 19th Century looking for them, too. This kind of thing happened a lot. Particularly jolting was that this New Jersey slavery was most concentrated in Bergen County where today the George Washington Bridge connects NJ to NYC. Bergen County has historically been one of the 2 or 3 wealthiest counties in the United States. Of couse, the acute concentration of extreme wealth in Bergen County is directly related to the acute concentration of slavery there historically. New Jersey was also one of the most active slave-trading states - that is to say New Jersey was a top origin state for Blacks being sold "down the river" to places like Mississippi - where they would typically be murdered in the cotton fields within a short span of 6-7 years after having several times their purchase price in profits violently beaten out of them by their new owners. I am saying all this to say that there are differences between house music in New Jersey in the 80s and 90s and house music in NYC during the same period. I speculate that the differing historical slave experiences of the local populations may be one factor. Because I cannot imagine the Romanthony record being made by a New Yorker, even though NJ and NY are right next to each other, and shared the same radio stations during the Golden Age of house music.
