RIP: Deon Estus

From his Twitter account:

"It is with real sadness I post that Deon Estus passed away This Morning. Deon was mostly known as the third member of Wham! Deon was passionate about music and loved interacting with his loyal fans."

Bobby Z. retweeted, adding, "Amazing man and musician. Rip #DeonEstus"

Deon was also in the 1970s band Brainstorm. But not on their first album which has probably their most known song called Lovin' Is Really My Game. That's him 3rd from the right.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Andrew Ridgeley: V. sad news today of Deon Estus’ death. A lavishly gifted bass guitarist, a charismatic & impish character & a rock of the WHAM! rhythm section. He lives large in the memory, he radiated warmth, humour & life’s illuminating light, my heartfelt commiserations go out to his family.

Shirlie Kemp: Shocked to hear the passing of such a lovely man. Spent so many years with Deon touring with Wham. God Bless..RIP @DeonEstus

Martin Kemp: Farewell my friend @DeonEstus Mr Club Tropicana… His bass playing helped create the sound of the 80s…. A brilliant talent…..RIP Deon

Dag, I just looked this guy up about a week ago. I heard he was now apart of the newly tefotmed late 70s R&B group Switch. I do remember his affiliation with George Michael and Wham. I remember that song Heaven Help Me. RIP Deon.

Oh no!! Big RIP to Deon. Heaven Help Me is a great tune, and so is the other song he did with David Z "You're The Only One" / Very funky!

Download all the shit hop that you can for your kids, neices, nephews, and their friends also. That will prevent them from going out and buying it and will prevent some shit hop sales. Every little bit helps - Andy

What I found - the consensus - on the Hard Day YouTube video comments is that it was George playing synth bass. That bassline kills all bullshit dead within 1000 mile radius.
