I just watched this earlier today. What a great conversation. Music aside, she made some points today that really hit home with me. I also finished watching the Mariah Carey interview on A Conversation with Oprah. She also made some points that hit home. Both talked about trauma, and dealing with that long term, and that it can affect your life for decades after. Both talked about anxiety, which I can fully identify with, too.

But yeah, good talk. Loving the press around 30.

Okay I'm really happy now that she got a sticky.

I don't care for her music...it sounds really ordinary to me...like something that was done before and not done particularly well. However, I do find her charming and charismatic and I am really happy for her success and that she is able to sell CDs in as large a quantity as she does.

.

When it comes to record sales...none of today's artist even come close.

I knew it could be, so I asked the OP to sorta switch up their title to reflect the album's release, then asked the mod to sticky it. Bigger new album releases this deserve it.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Adele's 30 is a great album. Having listened to it a 2nd time...I feel this may be her best yet.

Some very emotional unpacking here. There are times I had to say..dang Adele you didnt have to read your ex down like that! lol

I don't think she read his down as much as we'd like to believe. A lot of it was how she was doing through it. Sure, there were a few punches, but she's the one who left. She was the one who was unhappy and had her own misconceptions about marriage. It's "I Drink Wine," not "He Drove Me To Drink" or "I Drink Because of Him."

The opening track is one of the best. It has that cinematic quality. Sounds like it's from a 1950s movie or something.

I thought the most of it came out in A Woman Like Me:

Complacency is the worst trait to have, are you crazy?
You ain't never had, ain't never had a woman like me
It is so sad a man likе you could be so lazy
Consistency is the gift to givе for free and it is key
To ever keep, to ever keep a woman like me

[Verse 2]
All you do is complain about decisions you make
How can I help lift you if you refuse to activate the life that you truly want?
I know it's hard, but it's not
We come from the same place, but you will never give it up
It's where they make you feel powerful
That’s why you think I make you feel small
But that’s your projection, it's not my rejection
I put my heart on the line for the very first time
Because you asked me to and now you’ve gone and changed your mind
But lovin' you was a breakthrough
I saw what my heart can really do
Now some other man will get the love I had for you
'Cause you don't care, oh

Oh I felt that in my heart

"My Little Love" is one smooth jam.

Ottensen

"Hold On" is my favorite...and I adore the live, simple version she uploaded on "To Be Loved", recorded from her living room sofa. She's a wonderful vocalist and her chops are in great shape.

It has taken me a a few listens to articulate an opinion about the album. The main thing that jumps out to me is that she stretched herself on this album in that she has a wide array of types of styles both musically and vocally. Moreover, there are many songs here that are unusual enough that they clearly weren't calculated to be radio songs. For these reasons, I really respect Adele for taking some chances, which is counter to a common critique of her previous album that it was seen by some as being overly calculated and safe. That said, I find myself the most drawn to some of the most accessible songs despite my general tendency to prefer less commercial fare. I Drink Wine, Can I Get It, and Easy On Me are my favorites along with To Be Loved. This might change on more listenings to given the less obvious songs more time to sink in. IN any case, this is a really good album that showcases Adele's artistry.
