RIP Pee Wee Ellis

.
Just found out that pioneering funk saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis died on September 24. He was 80 years old.

Together with Maceo Parker, he was the original sax soloist for James Brown. Later, he performer and recorded with his own groups.

Rest in peace.

.

According to discogs, Mr. Ellis even performed on the Paisley Park album 'Hey Man... Smell my Finger' by George Clinton. Should that make him an 'associated artist'?

One of the grestest to ever do it. Cold Sweat live at Dallas from 1968 is the absolute peak of 60's funk.

RIP
