A 90s/2000s hip hop/R&B revue with K Dot.

Not excited but could be a good show with the talent involved.

Gee, can't argue with that logic.

I like to watch the show just to confirm that Prince's was better. In my opinion, the only show that was comparable was the latter part of Beyonce/Bruno/Coldplay, which I found extremely entertaining. Thanks to Coldplay's comparatively weak beginning, Prince prevailed.

Sometimes these type of performances surprise me with how good they are. I don’t listen to tons of rap and hip-hop, but if an ensemble could pull it off, it would probably be this group. I don’t expect a musical clinic, but it could be fun.

Just gonna party like it's 2001? What songs will they play?

Dre's biggest hits:
1996, peaked at #1 BLACKstreet "No Diggity" (featured rap)
1993, peaked at #2 "Nuthin But A G Thang" (featuring Snoop Doggy Dogg)

1993, peaked at #3 "Dre Day"
2000, peaked at #25 "Forgot About Dre" (featuring Eminem)

Mary J Blige will perform her Dre-produced #1 2001 hit "Family Affair" without a doubt. After that, I am not so sure...
"Not Gon' Cry" (#2, 1996)
"Runaway Love" Ludacris featuring Mary (#2, 2007)
"You're All I Need To Get By" Method Man + Mary (#3, 1995)
"Be Without You" (#3, 2006)
eek

This will be MJB's second time playing the Super Bowl.

She also sang, albeit briefly, when Aerosmith and Nsync headlined with guests Britney Spears, MJB, and Nelly in 2001. (I was like "Who the fuck is Nelly?")

This is gonna upset white America. We ain't gonna hear the end of it the whole time leading up to it, and about four weeks after.

"Drop It Like It's Hot" was apparently a #1 hit for Snoop. Otherwise he is a featured artist for Akon's #1 "I Wanna Love You" (??, 2006) and former Superbowl Halftime performer Katy Perry's #1 "California Gurls".

Yeah "#1 Hits"/Top 10 whatever pretty much stopped mattering at some point 2004-2009 when the internet and streaming took over the CD player.

"Nuthin' But a G Thang" is more recognizable to the masses young and old except everything but maybe 1-3 tracks on these lists.

True! Well, that would explain the later ones I don't know. I would guess "Not Afraid" gets performed.

You mean the same white Americans who made Dr. Dre a near billionaire from buying his Beats headphones? The same ones who watch a cooking show with Snoop & Martha Stewart? lol

Not to mention Eminem, every white dude under 30's favorite rapper of all time. They'll choke down all the G-Funk the 90s has if it means ten seconds of Slim Shady whining about his childhood yet again with his increasingly staccato flow.

Mary J will probably take over all vocal hooks after doing "Family Affair" and Eminem'll throw in one of those Rihanna ballads he has.

All of the performers here are mainstream popular in the USA, so why would they be upset? Now if it was like X-Clan/Brother J, K-Rino, or Sister Souljah, maybe he'd have a valid point. razz But I doubt most of the mainstream audeince & media even know who they are. lol

There are different classes of White America. The class of White America that
are die hard Republicans protested loudly on Facebook. The halftime show will be a good time to go take a expletive, these rappers aren't talented, etc. One guy even stated he doesn't even like Eminem. A lot of them are classic rock fans.

I'm sure that they're the ones who complain about Madonna & ABBA in the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame instead of some metal band. Since there hasn't been a classic rock act since 2010, they should be over it by now lol Unless you count the Red Hot Chili Peppers appearing with Bruno Mars. Anthony Kiedis tends to do rap influenced cadences anyway. If you go back decades ago, there were no classic rock acts at the Super Bowl, it was Up With People, college marching bands, and Carol Channing. Speaking of classic rock, I guess they didn't like that Super Bowl commercial Ozzy Osbourne did with Justin Beiber. razz
