I hear that some colored vinyl offerings have issues. Earlier today I was looking at a picture

vinyl of Thriller online at WalMart. Most of the reviews said it played like crap.

I'm weary of some of the new vinyl pressings not to mention the ridiculous pricing

This Chaka set is a couple of decades overdue. I wish there were more songs. Now that she has her WB masters it will be up to her to release a proper anthology. Meanwhile, I'm thrilled to finally see most of her music videos on DVD! I just ordered the EWF set. Is anyone familar with this series? Are the songs remastered? Are the videos remastered quality? Rhino uploaded a bunch of remastered Chaka vids to youtube over the past year with the glaring omission of "Its My Party" so its going to be great to have a clean copy of that one!

The new song is from some soundtrack. I listen to it once. Its okay. At this point I would prefer she release some of the WB vault material rather than new songs.

I want a Rufus/Chaka box set featuring fresh remasters of all the albums, plus any previously unreleased material as bonus tracks.

I'd also like to see Chaka do something special with her solo albums. How about an official release of her excellent, previously unreleased 1995 Dare You To Love Me album? That's long overdue.

eek so sad to hear about the master recordings destroyed in that fire

I know that Chaka owns her solo masters, but wouldn't she still need to find a label for distribution? That's probably why it's taking so long hmmm

Yes, I'm thinking that's it. But I'm wondering how Anita was able to find distribution so quickly? hmmm There is rumor of Anita's shelved Bluenote album being included in the boxset. I got the EW&F set today. The CD tracks sound great. Unfortunately the DVD is region 2 so it will only play on a DVD ROM drive or DVD/Blu Ray players that support region 2. The videos are not remastered. They don't look bad though. Just typical good quality of what you would find on youtube.

David Bowie / Brilliant Adventure [1992-2001]

David Bowie / Brilliant A...uxeEdition

The forthcoming David Bowie ‘era’ box set which covers most of the 1990s will be released in late November. Brilliant Adventures will be an 11CD box set or a 18LP vinyl box.

As expected, the boxes will include newly remastered versions of Black Tie White Noise (1993), The Buddha of Suburbia (1993), Outside (1995), Earthling (1997) and Hours (1999). It will also include David Bowie’s unreleased album Toy (which is also being issued separately as a three-CD or vinyl box).

For the uninitiated, Toy was recorded in 2000 following David’s Glastonbury 2000 performance. Bowie entered the studio with his band (at the time Mark Plati, Sterling Campbell, Gail Ann Dorsey, Earl Slick, Mike Garson, Holly Palmer and Emm Gryner) to record new interpretations of songs he’d first recorded from 1964-1971. For reasons unknown, it was never released.

I wish they would do a Shaft soundtrack re issue. I would pay the vaunted ridiculous new vinyl price for that one. I still have my father's copy. Amazingly no skips but the pops and clicks are noticeable.

I love Cafe Regio's. Just such a smooth relaxing instrumental that you can just sit back and drink tea or a nice beer.

Yeah that one too. That pops up on my Spotify list every other day.

I remember a few months ago Morris Day put on his FB page what was everyone favorite

soundtrack between Purple Rain, Shaft, and Superfly and he said don't tell him what everyone

thinks he wants to hear. I didn't front it was Shaft for me allthough all 3 I great soundtracks.

Shaft is my favorite of all time.

love ^^did any of you get the Beatles 'Let It Be' Super Deluxe edition yet? I'm still trying to decide if I should get the CD or the vinyl version.Decisions, decisions, lol

I went with the regular edition Vinyl and then the CD super deluxe . Mainly I usually do this because there is a big difference in the $$ of the Vinyl deluxes obviously and most of the time the bonus are demos and takes and half takes etc...and I don't feel the need to have that on Vinyl so I stick with the regular album, and deluxe or super deluxe issues. I did this with Prince Sign O the times, all the Lennon issues and previous Beatles ones and others.
