I agree! I think You Can Dance was re-issued for Record Store Day one year. I have a version of You Can Dance where the songs are not blended into each other ("Single Edits").

LILpoundCAKE

did she ever record pretty much an entire album/project and then not release it?

there are so many artists who have 'lost' albums but I don't think I can recall her
ever doing anything like that.

I guess there were a lot of songs written for Erotica/The Rain Tapes that weren't
on the album later on, just like with Ray Of Light.

but I'm thinking something like an actual project she set aside to start over again
from scratch.

That's a really good question, since she was on the same label as Prince at the same time his projects were being bottlenecked, edited, or shelved.

There are several album projects that she started, but then abandoned.

After Erotica, she began working with Shep Pettibone again and they completed several tracks. But then she decided to bring in folks like Babyface,Dallas Austin, etc and the project went into a whole different direction. The Shep Pettibone tracks remain unreleased.I believe there are 6 tracks.

A similiar thing happened after Bedtime Stories. She worked with Babyface again on a few tracks. One of the tracks,"Never Love A Stranger",is well known among fans. But she abandoned those songs and went into the studio with William Orbit.

So basically,I don't think she has any full, completed albums that are unreleased. But she has numerous outtakes and ideas that got abandoned and left in the vault.

..

ok, so it sounds like she might not have any unreleased albums as such, but she sure has enough material to fill some space on deluxe editions of her albums cool

Sounds promising.I’m excited about finally getting a deluxe edition of ‘Like A Prayer’ and just imagine what they can do with ‘Ray Of Light’!

.

Agreed! A ROL mega-set with the Demo Assembly and original album remastered would be a dream!

yeah when they get to ROL,there will be a ton of stuff they can put on it.Maybe we'll finally get the rumored, unreleased Veronica Electronica remix album.

Says the person knealing in front of pumpkin's corporate dick. Tell me, did he take you up to the penthouse, or was it a back room at Mar-a-lago?

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I'd put my money on an Erotica reissue, since next year it will be its 30th anniversary, or she'll start at the beginning with the Everybody single followed by her first album.

Like what?

I think the actual albums deserve more attention than those compilations.

maybe a fresh remaster? Or colored vinyl? I consider ‘You Can Dance’ to be an essential part of her catalog.

That would be nice. I mean, anything above the multi-generational bootleg Rain tapes is good. "Pristine" depends on the time frame, but still - clean it up a bit, and I'm happy.

Exactly. Of course, considering the source, I don't expect much less. He hates women and, even more so - successful ones.

Besides, if anyone was a corporate whore it was Prince. Fite me.
