Madonna and Warners announce new partnership

https://www.madonna.com/n...tWcivCRaqc

.

"2022 will mark the 40th anniversary of Madonna’s recording debut. This new deal heralds the launch next year of an extensive, multi-year series of catalog releases that will revisit the groundbreaking music that made her an international icon. For the first time, Madonna will personally curate expansive deluxe editions for many of her landmark albums, as well as introduce unique releases for special events, and much more. The series of releases will be overseen by Warner Music’s catalog team, led by Kevin Gore, President of Global Catalog, Recorded Music, with the first release to be announced soon."

.

Sounds promising! About time she gets some deluxe and expanded editions of the classics and more.

Agreed! A ROL mega-set with the Demo Assembly and original album remastered would be a dream!

I think there's a YouTube channel for Madonna instrumentals. Not sure where they get them from, but there is a lot. It's sorta interesting to build a playlist for an album just to hear the production.

I still have my bottom 3 albums, but I'd buy all her records in SDE format. However, I do hope it goes beyond just 7" or 12" mixes of songs like some folks have done. I think Erotica has one of the larger promises of outtakes, with The Rain Tapes circulating for years, and her actually performing "You Thrill Me" on the Confessions World Tour. It'd also be nice to see another version of the Girlie Show on DVD. Japan is there in pro shot, as is Australia of course. But there is Philadelphia and New York fan footage (which is super great). Just - another show in general would be nice.

This all was supposed to happen 20 years ago but we got that dinky little EP instead. I truly hope Madonna takes a nod from Prince or Bowie's estate and packages this shit right and really digs into things like outtakes, or even unreleased mixes. We know other mixes exist of things. Just lay it out there. Also, there are a few Junior Vasquez mixes unreleased that should be included, despite her tiff with him.

It's overdue to have a Madonna's full history out there. But - wait and see.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

This is great news. Her back catalogue has never been given the care and attention it so deserves. The fact that she will be involved with the reissues hopefully means they will be more interesting than the previous 'Like A Prayer' and 'True Blue' anniversary digital reissues. Obviously this ties in with her starting her career 40 years ago next year and the eventual release of her biopic.

I'm hoping her back catalogue including singles and live recordings (Blond Ambition!!!!) will now be more available. The stream of singles appearing on streaming seems to have slowed down to a trickle and the tracks on some of her albums on streaming are incorrect.

Happy Birthday to us!

I'd hope to see them follow deluxe editions format of Prince's releases with the album remastered, a disc (or two) of offical edits, remixes and b-sides, a disc of outtakes and demos and a live recording/dvd... we can only hope!

I'm pretty sure her contract with Interscope is done now and the Warners deal doesn't include any new music, initially just 1982-2009 (her Interscope releases go to Warners in 2025) so she's a free agent in terms of any new releases.

yep,she is now a free agent.I'm betting that her next major "new" album will be the soundtrack to the biopic.I also think it will contain a couple of new songs.

Yes, some kind of soundtrack/greatest hits ala the Queen and Elton John biopic albums although i wonder how deep into her career she will venture... blond ambition? sex? evita? ray of light?. A one-off single to promote the film/soundtrack would be good. Once Madame X doc has been released in October it leaves a year to plan for some 40th anniversary release(s) in October 2022. I guess a lot of things will already be in place, while planning the film she went through demo tapes, diaries, photos... she really has kept everything. She even watched The Girlie Show dvd the other day for research. The press release says the first release will be announced soon.

I was thinking the same thing: how far into her career will the biopic go? Where do they conclude the story? A perfect place to end it would be the ROL era. That's when she found true happiness in her life.

I wonder what the first Super Deluxe Edition will be smile I hope that it's 'Like A Prayer'.

During the instagram Q&A a few months ago, they were writing a scene about when she was in London recording Evita in 1995 but most of the research images were from the early 80s. I could see it ending with the birth of Lola but who knows? I'm hoping the reissues are done chronologically rather than based on sales/popularity like Prince's seem to have been done.

Yes it’s such an underrated album. Was so glad to see it back on the charts. I even wrote a poem with the song titles in it and shared it with an audience

It sounds good, but I'll believe it when I see it. I've been waiting for a deluxe version of Like A Prayer for so long I just can't see it happening now. And M has been terrible at looking after her back catalogue up 'til now, I just can't see that changing.

Be nice if I was wrong though biggrin

this time,it's really gonna happen biggrin there is an actual deal in place.

but this is one of the things that always bothered me about Prince and Madonna. The two of them were always doing "new" music (which is a good thing),but they never wanted to look back, reflect and celebrate what they have accomplished in the past. They didn't seem to realize that fans go crazy over stuff like this.

The remasters they already did sounded great but weren't deluxed much outside of tacking on a couple/three single versions. Nothing rare.

I am not sure I have the lifespan to just do one album per 40th anniversary either lol

Like many of her albums that were underappreciated at the time, Bedtime Stories has aged remarkably well. It shows her incredible skill as both a songwriter and vocalist.

Hopefully they'll do them in chunks, maybe three albums at a time, depending on how 'deluxe' (expensive!) they individually are. Knowing Madonna, they will be very expensive.

It would be cool if they also do something special with You Can Dance,'Who's That Girl' soundtrack and The Immaculate Collection.
