playlist timelines

I was in the office and had to do some desk work for the whole day. So I turned the speakers on a decided to go back to the 70s only (then the 80s only) and decided to put together a playlist of songs by year so 1970 71 72 - 78 79
.
It is interesting hearing the change of sound in that way. Of course a lot of songs from 70 71 even 71 still soundlike like something that might have been in the 60s. Songs from 80-81(barely) sounded like 70s songs but you can hear a more definative change in style/sounds by 81-82.

.

I did start a 90s list a 2000-2010 2010-2021 list too I find that the 2000s there isn't a lot of distinction, nothing definative. the 90s has defining sounds of course.

.

I find that I really love the 'quiet' feel I get from the 70s and early 80s music, I know some of that might have something to do with recordings, but I can almost remember what it was like being in the moment, back then hearing these song on the radio or over a sound system.

.

Have you ever put together a time piece playlist?

i heard this over a store sound system, and immediately thought I missed a 1980s song...

really captured the early-mid 80s here except for his vocal delivery... I think

I know current culture is trying to bite off the 80s now, are their any good songs from the 2000s period that give a good 80s expression?
