Here are some of the ones that I would suggest:
"More Than You Do" "Pretty Baby" "C.Y.A.M.G." ('Cause You Are My Girl) "The Ballad Of Lonesome Rhodes" "Euphoria" "Because You've Changed" "This Town" "Ooh Carolina" "Honestly" "Duchess"
Ultimately, it's all subjective.

Hi, Personally I feel that Sananda's best work with the exception of ITHATTTD is everything from Wildcard to now. You can hear the freedom on all of these albums and it's wonderful. He obviously has a fanbase and a strong one at that as he is prolific with each release giving at least 2 albums worth of tracks.
Try "It ain't been easy", "Bella Faccina" and "right brain says" from Angels & Vampires album. "If I just stay with you", "Where did the money go" and "Superstar" from Nigor Mortis. "Azerbaijan", "The quaterback song" and "she's sad" from The Sphinx. "Stagger Lee pts 1 & 2", "Just go easy" and "If I go away" on Return to zooathalon. "Giraffe", "They went back in time and killed robert johnson", "Yes you" and "We can all go home" from Rise of the zugebrian timelords. "U cried a river", "She'll tell me" and "Amoeba" from Pandora & Prometheus.
Can't comment on the new release yet as I haven't give it enough time yet. There are a lot of songs to go through and they are the type of songs, in my opinion, that need multiple listens before sinking in. His lyrics are bizarre, the mastering is not the absolute best but each and every release has his heart on a sleeve and all have their merits. Give them a try on a streaming platform and give them time cos once you do they'll stay with you because as far as I'm concerned he's a genius let loose and that does not happen very often in the music world. Fall in love with them then order the CD's from his site and lets keep him going because we dont have many left from his era.

I kind-of temper my enthusiasm for being a cheerleader on the org for this brilliant artist, as many respondents seem to be convinced that the guy is sub-par, loony (who is not, anyway? We're all touched by our life's experiences) and not worth their time as currently presented and packaged. > I will say that his new double-album Pandora's PlayHouse is fun, reflective, and insightful commentary on the world in which we live today. Plus, he honors a few people who one may or may not care about--Prince, Rod Steiger, William "Smokey" Robinson, "Sugar Ray" Robinson and Ray Charles. His mix is the usual Sananda standard-- a take-it-or-leave-it proposition for the past decade-and-half--although there is a lengthy 2-part interview with his first-album producer Martin Ware that may bring thoughts of potential new collaborations with familiar, excellent recording personnel to the fore in times to come. I feel that the sequencing of the new album is a little grab-bag in focus, but digital tracking can be adjusted to make the whole project a transformative, enjoyable listening experience. Just check it out--it is free to lisen to these songs on a variety of digital platforms. I reccomend his lyric videos on Youtube.

His most recent album, Pandora's Playhouse, contains his strongest post-Wildcard material for me, so I'd suggest listening to that one first. Expect something more whimisical, 'European', lo-fi and muddy sounding than his earlier work though.

Also, jfenster, you have to give examples of what type of songs and subjects you prefer to hear, for one to begin to suggest something new that you might like. Aside from blockbuster hits, which Sananda hasn't had since his debut recording, what may be a "standout" song is highly subjective, as others here have already said.

Thanks Germanegro. I've noticed that on here too and never quite understood it. I love all of Sananda's work but the independant stuff is just so good, untouched by the opinions of committee and just honest, great work...with arguably the best voice that's ever been commited to recording. I honestly don't think that many people on here have listened to all of his back catalogue and give him a fair chance...I think a lot would be pleasantly surprised.
I also listen to Bilal Oliver a lot as his wings have been unclipped and he does what the hell he wants, when he wants and every album he has dropped is amazing. Getting into Tyler The Creator at the moment and get the same vibe from him (I'm nearly 50 so this is a major embarrassment for my 12 yr old son) but genius is genius and along, of course with Prince and Michael both Jackson and George these artists are very special, very talented and I'm greatful that we can enjoy their music and view of the world because life would be a whole lot duller without them.

Interesting to see that of those of us who have listed tracks, we have by and large produced completely different lists. I truly love the songs I listed above, but there are many songs in those other lists that I would keep away from the ears of those I am trying to impress. That's subjectivity for you.
I had this daydream of getting S to Paisley Park (or any recording studio) and re-recording 20 of his Post-Millennium rock songs with some form of the NPG (like Michael B and Sonny T) and seeing what they would come up with.
