with the holidays coming, there are a lot of great box sets to look forward to.Another one I am interested in is the Chicago ‘Complete Carnegie Hall’ set. It’s a huge,16-CD set (!) that contains all 8 shows that they performed there in 1972.It was delayed a bit and will now be released on September 10. Are any of you looking forward to any upcoming releases? What’s on your Christmas lists?

SoulAlive said: It’s just a shame that the Commodores’ catalog is being neglected. It's not like their music wasn’t popular. They were HUGE in the late 70s! I can name numerous lesser bands and artists who have big,multi-disc box sets on the market Motown probably thinks most people would be content with the 2cd Commodores “Gold” comp. If this makes sense, they probably perceive the Commodores fan base as WIDE but not DEEP, in that most fans want the hits but relatively little interest in b-sides and remixes and unreleased tracks. Spectrum U.K. (a Universal level) often puts out budget box sets, collecting 5 original albums on CD .... I wonder if they ever did a Commodores set ? #SOCIETYDEFINESU

... [Edited 9/5/21 22:53pm] I think Sony would do well to reissue the 10 CD Philly 40th Annivesary box set and add on a couple more discs of 12" mixes & previously unreleased material. According to the liner notes on the original box set, there is a wealth of vault material that still hasnt seen the light of day. I would be more interested in that instead of these over priced sets that are not offering up anything new. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley
