Alanis Morissette "Hand In My Pocket" samples Soul II Soul and no one told me. It's on the second album with "Get A Life" on it.
"Courtney Blows" from Soul II Soul's Volume II - 1990 A New Decade |

Are you sure? Not that it's the end all and be all for information, but Wikipedia doesn't mention it at all.
If you're talking about the drum track, it doesn't sound the same to me. Similar, but not the same. And you can't copyright a drum rhythm anyway, so even if her and Glen created something very similar to the SIIS song, it's not an infraction on their part.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

They E.Q.'d the fuck out of it (but the bongos are still there) and only took one bar from 0:05—0:08 when Soul II Soul drops in the Rufus Thomas drums (but you didn't hear those either ). |
