Jimmy Jam x Terry Lewis x Mariah Carey "Somewhat Loved (There You Go breaking My Heart)"

Jimmy jam x Terry lewis x Mariah Carey "Somewhat Loved"

I really like their collaboration. Nice piano driven r&b tune with a modern sound. Would work well as an acapella as well in my opinion. Jimmy Jam said she already had the song written out and they composed the music and arrangements around it.

(12) JAM & LEWIS x MA... - YouTube

We stood there alone
In that silent corridor
Those unspoken words
Conjure fixation
Capturing me

(Fell) Helplessly into bliss
Just like Fall things started to switch
And now Spring's everything that I miss
Somewhat loved
The more I thought about you
Was the less I thought about me
And I lost myself in this dream
Somewhat loved

There you go
Breakin' my heart, breakin' my heart
Breakin' my heart again
No such thing as lovers and friends
There you go
Breakin' my heart, breakin' my hеart
Breakin' my heart again
You only live to brеak my heart again

Spun out of control
In this faithless world I must own
Angel turned his back
And where wings once were
They were no longer intact

[Pre-Chorus]
(Fell) Helplessly into bliss
Just like Fall things started to switch (Fall)
And now Spring's everything that I miss
Somewhat loved (only somewhat)
The more I thought about you (the more I thought)
Was the less I thought about me
And I lost myself in this dream
Somewhat loved (only somewhat)

[Chorus: Mariah Carey]
There you go
Breakin' my heart, breakin' my heart
Breakin' my heart again (why you got to go away?)
No such thing as lovers and friends
And there you go
Breakin' my heart, breakin' my heart
Breakin' my heart again
You only live to break my heart again
[Bridge: Mariah Carey]
La la la la
(There you go)
La la la la
(There you go)
Baby
La di da da da
Stay with me

You go
Breakin' my heart, breakin' my heart
Breakin' my heart again
There is no such thing as lovers and friends
There you go
Breakin' my heart, breakin' my heart (I think you do it baby)
Breakin' my heart again
You only live to break my heart again

[Chorus: Mariah Carey]
Breakin' my heart, breakin' my heart
(You're making me go thru things)
Breakin' my heart again
(That I never went thru before)
No such thing as lovers and friends
Oh baby you're breakin'
Breakin' my heart, breakin' my heart
Breakin' my heart again
You only live to break my heart again

I couldn’t get into it and the breaking my heart lines reminds me of we belong together so it’s a bit redundant. Hope it grows on me cause I love flyte Tyme and Mariah

It's okay. Definitely better than some recent stuff she has done.

Sounds like a track janet jackson wouldve passed on, back in the early 90's ...its not bad, but i just expect so much more from JimmyJam&TerryLewis, based on their amazing track record

Literally every track on Mariah's Caution album is superior to this and better produced. The production here is incredibly basic for Jam & Lewis.

I feel the exact same way, caution is a great album and this sounds like she’s trying too hard to be popular more than authentic. And I love flyte Tyme and trying hard to collaborate with them

I think Mariah had a lot to do with the sounds she wanted because she has been using this same time signature and fingersnap for a while...however I love the piano and songwriting.

This is 20 years on from getting Jam & Lewis for Glitter. I don't think it is working this Tyme.

Why can’t she use her full voice? I’m so sick of the whispery vocals. Her old records from 90-95 were so much better than this. Sad!

As an artist,Mariah has become predictable, bland and boring. This new song is just more of the same.

as for Jam and Lewis….let’s hope that there are better, stronger songs on their album than the two tracks that have been released so far.

The song they have with Sounds Of Blackness Til I Found You is the best one I've heard

so far. It's a nice upbeat song that makes a reference to the Ohio Players Heaven Must Be

Like This near the end.

This riff sounds like a replay of something else, and it's bugging me.

Bring It All To Me - Blaque?

I see that this track was cowritten with The Dream. I wonder if its something from him? One of his old riffs like Shawty is a 10?

Oh man that makes total sense. Flyte Tyme was probably competing with that track.

I heard this on the radio today.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
