James Brown "Get On Up"

I just watched it this evening and I don't care if it's already been discussed and buried. I just dug it up again.

The movie was incredible and if y'all have seen it, I will share my favorite parts. It's making me want to fix my life up!

That's where my avatar is from. I used that instead of T'Challa.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Here's Chadwick singing Man's World on David Letterman. He's doing Bill Wither's Grandma's Hands here. James & Bill performed at the Rumble In The Jungle fight.

Great performances but I don't think much of the film, it covers too much ground too quickly imho, a tighter focus on an era would have been better. Or a much, MUCH, longer film.

Think it's on Netflix.

Loved this movie because of Chadwick Boseman's performance. To know now that he was dealing with cancer while making this film just blows me away. What an amazing human...

It's not a documentry but it's a really well done movie with by everyone involved - actors, writers, etc.

I'm watching Hemingway, the PBS documentary, but I'll put Get On Up on my list of sooner than later.
