Steinman was a producer, composer, and lyricist and worked with A-list talents like Bonnie Tyler, Celine Dion, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Meat Loaf. He died Monday. He was 73 years old.

Steinman's music covered so many fields, including rock, dance, musical theater, film scoring, and pop music.

Most notably, he wrote Bat Out Of Hell, which was Meat Loaf's debut 1977 album. It's one of the best selling records in history, selling well over 50M copies across the globe. He wrote all, or partially wrote, and produced later Meat Loaf albums including Dead Ringer, Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell, and Braver Than We Are.

In the mid 90s, he wrote the lyrics for Broadway legend Andrew Lloyd Webber's Whistle Down The Wind. The show has seen quite a few revivals over the years since. He also worked on Shrek 2, Rude awakening, and More Than You Deserve. It stands to note that Bonnie Tyler sang "Tire Tracks and Broken Hearts" from the Whistle Down The Wind concept album released in 1998.

Some of his popular songs were Barry Manilow's "Read 'Em And Weep", "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler, Air Supply's "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All, and "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" by Celine Dion.

So sad. I loved the songs of Jim Steinman before I had even heard of Prince. I have memories of my Mum blasting Bat Out Of Hell whilst doing the housework. Bad for Good remains one of my all time favourite albums. Originally intended as the follow up to Bat Out Of Hell but Meat lost his voice, so Steinman recorded it himself. Although Meat Loaf later recorded most of the songs I always wished that we could have had this album with Meat Loaf's vocals when he was in his prime.

The best pop is cinematic.

Can't also forget classic song for Air Supply "Making love out of nothing at all" getting to number two also "Read Em and Weep" for Barry Manilow his last Top 40 hit peaked around number eighteen if I remember and was number one AC. Also two amazing songs on the underground classic movie "Streets Of Fire" , the songs "Nowhere Fast" and the amazing "Tonight is what it means to be young"

My favorite Steinman production is the gothic rock masterpiece, "This Corrosion" by The Sisters of Mercy.
