Sade - "Maureen" Somehow, someway, there are always songs I've missed over the years. I often play a Yacht Rock station while I work on a quilt. Every once in a while, there comes this song I'd never heard before. Sounded a bit more current, and the voice was familiar. I looked at the player, and saw it was Sade's "Maureen." Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

youre on a roll lately... "Maureen" has ALWAYS been by far, my favorite Sade' song... i thought it was just me noticing the greatness of that joint...the marriage of her voice, the conga drums, and piano throughout the song, always moved me

The song makes me think Sade is a huge listener of Marvin Gaye & The Mizel Brothers. Didn’t know about it’s meaning till now, great find. Things got a little darker after Promise musically, more melancholy. It makes me wonder what were the music or the events that helped shape her music during those times.
