One of my FAVORITE Lady T songs...too beautiful for words...always wondered who that was about! Patrice Rushen on the piano!! I am the bird that can not be caged completely Even though I long to spread my wings so bittersweetly I DON'T WANT TO BE NORMAL,because normal is part of the status quo, which I don't want to be a part of- Tori Amos

Hey, I've BEEN said this was her BEST song, and I'm not exaggerating there! I've always said how much I loved this and how underappreciated there.

The majority of Teena's ballads were sooo moving! "Casanova Brown" is another good one. She is a great talent. I dig her jazzy vibe in those songs

In the liner notes to her remastered 'It Must Be Magic' CD,Teena says that "Yes Indeed" is her favorite song.

Speaking of Teena,I wonder what happened to her new CD 'Black Reign'? She is now signed to Cash Money Records and the album has been completed for awhile now.I hope she's not having any problems with her new record deal.Has anyone heard anything??

Wasn't she supposed to have a spring time release? That was the last I heard about the album. Their website only has "Coming soon" under her name. I really wished she had signed to another label because I don't think they'll know what to do with her, but we'll see.

Yeah,I'm beginning to worry about her.Too often, when an "Old School" artist signs with a major label, things don't always turn out the way they plan it.The label usually tries to make the artist sound "hip" by pairing them up with current artists or rappers, forcing the artist to make an album that's not true to themselves.A similiar thing recently happened to Donna Summer. In 1999,she signed a contract with Sony and began work on a new album. They paired her up with Cher's producers and Linda Perry and numerous songs were recorded. The album was never released and Summer was dropped from the label. .... And, I hope she's not re-tooling (nor anyone else) the album to be hipper under her new label, like you said. Maybe she should've signed with Righteous Babe Records, instead! Would make me feel much better!

Oh yeah,I hope she is not "re-tooling" the album. She's been talking about this album for about three years now.In fact, she appeared on one of our local radio stations a few years back. They played a new song from the CD,it was called "I Love Him Too".It was a duet/ballad with another female vocalist.

If you go to her site, http://www.teenamarie.com/blackrain.htm, they do have a clip of Black Rain playing in the background. I mean, she was almost done the album back in May of last year, so something's up. Best case scenario is she's adding even more stellar tracks to the project after sitting on it while working out a record deal. What's the latest word on her and Slick Rick touring together again, or is that on hold yet again??

The Rick James/Teena tour was supposed to be starting this spring, but so far I haven't heard any announcement.Rick has been posting on his site's message board (using the moniker "therealRickJames").He says that his new CD will be out this month, but I highly doubt it.This summer,he WILL be releasing a concert DVD taken from a 1982 show.

Here's a little info on Teena's new CD 'Black Reign'...
***The first single was supposed to be out the end of March. ***It includes a remake of the Smokey Robinson classic "Ooh Baby Baby". ***There is a duet with Gerald LeVert called "A Rose By Any Other Name".In this song,Teena asks "Are you strong enough to be my man?",to which Gerald responds "Girl,I'll run across the desert sand". ***Guests on the album include Rick James,Common and Bahamadia (whoever that it).

Maybe everything's just being pushed back a month or two, since you noted the first single was supposed to be released at the end of March. Maybe Common's rap is being edited out and replaced by someone on the Cash Money label. LMAO!
